Anti-reference A writing sample in Brand Beat’s Training tab that shows Beat what NOT to sound like. Use anti-references for generic AI output, competitor styles you dislike, or any writing pattern you want Beat to actively avoid. The more specific your anti-references, the better Beat gets at steering clear of those patterns.
Auto-draft A piece of content Beat generates automatically during a scheduled Autopilot run. Auto-drafts land in your Content Planner → Drafting column and require your review before anything is published. Beat never publishes auto-drafts automatically.
Beat The AI agent inside UPBEAT Growth OS that powers all strategy, content, and brand assistance. There’s one agent — Beat. Beat reads your Brand Beat, understands your strategy, and adapts its behavior based on which page of the app you’re working on.
Beat Autopilot The feature that schedules Beat to automatically draft articles on configured days of the week. Autopilot drafts content — it does not publish. Pro-only: Pro picks up to 3 days per week from Mon / Wed / Fri. Free and Starter cannot enable Autopilot. Configure it from the Beat autopilot section of Settings.
Brand Beat Your complete brand profile — the foundational document that powers every Beat output. Brand Beat contains six tabs (in order): Overview, Identity & Voice, Visual, Pillars & Content, Audience, and Training. The more complete and specific your Brand Beat, the more targeted and on-brand Beat’s outputs will be.
Cadence Your target publishing frequency — how many pieces of content you want to publish per week. You set your cadence in Brand Beat → Pillars & Content. Beat uses your cadence to calibrate Autopilot, fill the cadence bar in the Content Planner, and pace Strategy recommendations.
Completion score A 0–100 score on the Brand Beat Overview tab measuring how complete your brand profile is. Higher scores mean Beat has more signal to work with, which produces more targeted and accurate outputs. Improve your score by filling in empty or thin fields and adding training samples.
Content pillar One of your 3–5 core topic areas that all of your content orbits around. Content pillars give your strategy coherence — instead of writing about whatever feels timely, your content consistently builds authority in a focused set of areas. Beat uses your pillars to generate content ideas, organize SEO topic clusters, and structure Strategy recommendations.
Decision engine The smart format-picker in Content Studio (
/app/create) that shows Beat’s top recommended next actions. Instead of starting with a blank slate, the decision engine shows “Do This Next” cards — specific content recommendations based on your pillars, strategy, and content gaps. Click any card to jump directly into creating that piece.
Growth Flywheel Beat’s visualization of your content marketing loop in the Strategy section. The flywheel shows: Content → Discovery → Audience → Leads → Sales → Authority → Content. Beat identifies which stage is strongest and where there’s friction — so you know exactly where to focus to accelerate growth.
Growth Score A composite metric shown on Mission Control (
/app/mission-control) that measures your overall content marketing momentum. The score combines content output, SEO performance, audience growth, and engagement signals. It’s a directional health indicator, not a single-source metric.
ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) The specific type of person your content is written for and your product or service is built to serve. Defined in Brand Beat → Audience, your ICP includes demographics, psychographics, pain points, goals, and buying triggers. Every piece of Beat-generated content is written to this person.
Mission Control The main dashboard at
/app/mission-control — your daily starting point in UPBEAT OS. Mission Control reads top to bottom: what’s happening right now, what to focus on this week, and where you’re headed this month.
Proposed change A before/after card that Beat returns when it suggests an edit to your brand profile or content. Instead of overwriting your text directly, Beat shows you the original and its suggestion side by side. You Apply the change (saves it) or Dismiss it (keeps the original). Fields remain editable after applying.
SEO Score A 0–100 measure of your site’s search optimization health, shown on the Performance dashboard. Powered by Google Search Console data. The score reflects keyword coverage, content freshness, click-through rate, and topic cluster depth. Requires Starter or Pro and GSC connected.
Sequence A multi-step email series Beat writes for you — welcome flows, nurture tracks, onboarding drips. Beat drafts each step; you configure the delays and send each step manually through your configured sender (UPBEAT shared or BYO Resend). Free accounts can’t generate emails; Starter gets 50 emails/month; Pro is unlimited.
Topic cluster A group of related keywords and content pieces that Beat organizes around one of your content pillars. Building depth in a topic cluster — publishing multiple pieces covering different angles of the same topic — signals expertise to Google and drives compounding SEO results. Beat scores each cluster and surfaces gaps and quick wins on the Performance dashboard.
Training Writing samples you add to Brand Beat’s Training tab so Beat learns your voice. Each sample is tagged by content type (blog post, email, bio, about page, social post, sales copy, other) and weighted: This is exactly how I want to sound (badge: On voice), This is okay but not ideal (Okay), or This is what I DON’T want to sound like (Anti). Two to three strong “exactly how I want to sound” samples significantly improve Beat’s output quality. The single highest-impact setup step after completing the Brand Beat intake.
