Overview
Setup takes about 20–30 minutes end to end. You don’t have to do it all at once — the app tracks your progress and you can pick up where you left off anytime. The setup checklist lives at /app/setup. The five steps in order:- Create your account
- Build your Brand Beat
- Connect your apps
- Create your first piece of content
- Train Beat on your voice
Step 1 — Create your account
Sign up at useupbeat.com and confirm your email. Your account is ready the moment you log in.Step 2 — Build your Brand Beat
Time: ~5 minutes Your Brand Beat is the foundation everything else runs on. Beat will ask you a few questions about your business, your audience, and how you sound. When you’re done, it generates your full brand profile: positioning, voice descriptors, messaging pillars, audience definition, and content direction.Go to Brand Beat
Click Brand in the left sidebar, or navigate to /app/brand.
Start the intake questionnaire
You’ll see a prompt to complete your Brand Beat. Click Set up Brand Beat to begin.
Answer Beat's questions
Beat will ask about your business, who you serve, what makes you different, how you sound, and what you write about. Answer as specifically as you can — the quality of your Brand Beat depends on the detail you put in here. You can always come back and refine later.
Step 3 — Connect your apps
Time: ~5 minutes Link your tools so Beat has real data to work with and you can publish from one place. You don’t have to connect everything — connect what’s most relevant to you right now. Open Settings and scroll to the Integrations section. High-priority connections:| Integration | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Powers the Performance dashboard with real traffic data |
| Google Search Console | Powers SEO scores and keyword opportunity analysis |
| WordPress | Lets Beat publish articles directly to your site |
| Publish posts to your personal profile from the app | |
| Slack | Get daily digests and content-ready notifications |
Click Connect
Each card has a Connect button that opens the OAuth authorization flow for that platform.
Authorize access
You’ll be redirected to the platform (Google, LinkedIn, etc.) to approve access. UPBEAT OS only requests the permissions it needs.
You can connect integrations at any time from Settings. The app works without them — you just won’t have real data flowing into the Performance and Strategy dashboards.
Step 4 — Create your first piece of content
Time: ~10 minutes Open Studio, pick a format, and ship something. Momentum starts here.Open the Create hub
Go to /app/create — Beat’s recommendation hub for what to make next. You can also jump straight into a format from the Studio group in the sidebar (Article, Email, Social, Lead Magnet, Remix).
See what Beat recommends
The Create page surfaces fresh ideas drawn from your strategy, SEO opportunities, and recent performance — pick one to start with, or bring your own topic.
Pick a format
Choose Article, Email, Social, Lead Magnet, or Remix. Beat pre-fills the generation form with context from your Brand Beat.
Step 5 — Train Beat on your voice
Time: ~3 minutes Feed Beat examples of your writing so it sounds like you — not a generic AI. This step makes the biggest difference to output quality over time.Open the Training tab
On the Brand page, click the Training tab, or go to /app/brand?tab=training.
Add your best examples
Paste in 2–3 pieces of writing that represent your voice at its best — a blog post, LinkedIn article, email newsletter, or social post. Label each one:
- Sounds like me — This is your voice. Beat should write like this.
- Okay, not ideal — You’d publish this but it’s not your best work.
- Anti-reference — Beat should avoid writing like this.
2–3 strong “sounds like me” examples are enough to start. Add more over time when Beat’s output drifts from your style.
What’s next?
Once setup is complete, Mission Control becomes your daily home base. It reads top to bottom — what’s happening right now, what to focus on this week, and where you’re headed this month.Mission Control
Your daily starting point — what to work on, what’s working, what’s next.
