Every time you regenerate your Brand Beat, UPBEAT OS automatically saves a snapshot of the previous version. Version history gives you a safety net — you can explore new brand directions without losing what you had before.

What version history is

A version is a full snapshot of your Brand Beat at a specific point in time — capturing every field across Identity & Voice, Visual, Pillars & Content, Audience, and Training. Versions are created only by full regenerations, not by manual field edits. If you’ve regenerated your Brand Beat three times, you’ll have three saved versions plus your current version.
Version history is a paid feature. Starter plans see and restore the most recent version; Pro plans see full history (up to 50 versions). Free plans don’t see version history but their edits are still being snapshotted in the background — upgrading later unlocks the saved versions.

How to view version history

1

Go to Brand Beat Overview

Navigate to /app/brand and make sure you’re on the Overview tab.
2

Open the Version history panel

On the Overview tab, click the Version history button. A modal opens with a list of saved versions, each with a timestamp and brief summary.

Comparing versions

When you open version history, you can click any saved version to preview it. The preview shows you the content of that version across all tabs so you can compare it to your current Brand Beat. Look for changes in:
  • Positioning statement wording
  • Voice descriptor choices
  • Content pillar names and descriptions
  • Audience pain points and psychographics
If you’re not sure whether to keep a new regeneration or go back, spend a few minutes reading both versions’ positioning statements side by side. The one that more clearly describes what you actually do is usually the right one to keep.

How to restore a previous version

1

Open version history

Navigate to the Overview tab and click the Version history button.
2

Select the version to restore

Click on the version you want to go back to. Preview it to confirm it’s the right one.
3

Click Restore

Click the Restore button on the version preview. This makes that version your active Brand Beat.
Restoring a previous version replaces your current Brand Beat. Your current version is saved automatically before the restore completes, so you can undo if needed.

Manual edits vs regeneration

ActionCreates a new version?
Clicking a field and editing it directlyNo
Using the text selection popup (Sharpen / Simplify / Rewrite)No
Applying a proposed change from Beat chatNo
Clicking Regenerate on the Overview tabYes
Manual edits let you make surgical changes without creating clutter in your version history. Regeneration is for when you want Beat to take a fresh pass at your entire brand profile — typically after a significant repositioning or after completing additional training samples.

When to regenerate vs when to edit

Use edit when:
  • A specific field is off but the rest of your Brand Beat is solid
  • You want to adjust your tone, swap out a pillar name, or update a pain point
  • You’ve added new training samples and want to see how they change one section
Use regenerate when:
  • Your business direction has meaningfully changed
  • You’re launching a new offer or pivoting your positioning
  • Your audience has shifted significantly
  • You want a complete fresh take with your new intake answers
