# Beat Chat
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/beat/chat
How to use Beat's chat panel to get advice, ideas, and strategy.
Beat's chat panel is available on every page of UPBEAT OS. It's where you have longer conversations with Beat — getting strategic advice, generating content ideas, requesting rewrites, or asking Beat to analyze something specific.
## Opening the chat panel
Beat's chat interface has three states:
1. **Collapsed** — The Beat icon sits in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Click it to open.
2. **Panel** — A sidebar panel opens on the right side of the screen. This is the default chat view.
3. **Expanded** — Click the expand icon to make Beat full-width, useful for longer working sessions or when Beat generates longer outputs.
Click the X or click outside the panel to collapse it. Your conversation stays in place — reopening the panel brings you back to where you left off.
## Quick-start chips
When you open the chat panel, Beat shows a set of quick-start chips — pre-built prompts relevant to the page you're on. These are the most common actions Beat can help with from your current context.
Examples of chips you might see:
* On Brand Beat: "Review my positioning" / "Tighten my value proposition"
* On Strategy: "What's my focus this week?" / "What should I stop doing?"
* On Content Studio: "Give me 5 article ideas" / "What format should I use?"
Click any chip to send that prompt immediately. You can then follow up with more specific questions.
## How to write good prompts to Beat
Beat works best when prompts are specific and include context. The more Beat knows about what you're trying to accomplish, the more useful its response.
| Weak prompt | Strong prompt |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| "Write me a blog post" | "Write a 1,000-word article for founders on why content pillars matter, using my brand voice and addressing my audience's frustration with content that doesn't convert" |
| "Help with my strategy" | "Based on my content pillars, which topic cluster should I invest in this month to move my SEO score the most?" |
| "Make this better" | "This paragraph is too vague — sharpen it to be more specific about who this is for and what outcome they get" |
## Saving a chat thread
When Beat produces something genuinely useful — a strategy recommendation, a content outline, a set of ideas — it will sometimes offer to save the thread. You can also manually save any thread by clicking the Save button in the chat panel header.
Saved threads are named automatically based on the conversation. You can rename them after saving.
## Reopening saved threads
Saved threads appear in your chat history. To reopen a thread:
1. Click the history icon in the chat panel header.
2. Browse or search your saved threads.
3. Click a thread to open it and continue the conversation.
Use saved threads for ongoing conversations — like an evolving content strategy discussion or a running list of article ideas Beat has generated for you. Reopening keeps the context intact so Beat remembers what you've already covered.
## Message limits by tier
| Tier | Beat chat messages |
| ------- | ------------------ |
| Free | 5 lifetime |
| Starter | 75 per month |
| Pro | Unlimited |
## When you hit your limit
On Free, you'll see a prompt to upgrade once you've used your 5 lifetime messages. On Starter, your limit resets on the first of each month. Beat will notify you when you're close to your monthly limit.
Upgrading to Starter or Pro is done from Settings → Subscription. A 30-day free trial is available if you haven't used one yet.

# Beat AI
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/beat/overview
What Beat is, how it works, and what you can ask it.
Beat is the single AI agent powering all of UPBEAT Growth OS. There's no team of agents to configure or manage — just Beat, working across every part of your marketing in a way that's aware of your brand, your strategy, and the page you're currently on.
## How Beat shifts context by page
Beat reads your location in the app and adjusts its behavior accordingly. The same question — "What should I focus on?" — gets a different answer depending on where you ask it.
| Page | Beat's focus |
| -------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| Brand Beat (`/app/brand`) | Brand positioning, voice, messaging, identity |
| Strategy (`/app/strategy`) | Growth recommendations, content gaps, competitive context |
| Content Studio (`/app/create`) | Content ideas, format selection, writing direction |
| Articles (`/app/articles`) | Writing, editing, structure, SEO optimization |
| Performance (`/app/performance`) | SEO opportunities, keyword targeting, topic clusters |
| Email (`/app/email`) | Sequence strategy, email copy, subject lines |
## How to open Beat
* **Floating button** — The Beat icon appears in the bottom-right corner of every page. Click it to open the chat panel.
* **AskBeat button** — Appears in the editor sidebar and other context-specific locations. Clicking it opens Beat with relevant context pre-loaded.
* **Text selection popup** — Highlight any text on a Brand Beat page and a popup appears with quick actions (Sharpen / Simplify / Rewrite / Fix tone).
## The four main ways to interact with Beat
1. **Chat** — Open the chat panel and ask Beat anything. Beat responds with advice, content, analysis, or proposed changes.
2. **Text selection popup** — Highlight text and choose a quick action. Beat returns a before/after proposed change.
3. **Proposed changes** — Beat's structured before/after cards for edits to your brand profile or content.
4. **Quick chips** — Pre-built prompt suggestions that appear in the chat panel based on your current page.
## Message limits by tier
| Tier | Beat chat messages |
| ------- | ------------------ |
| Free | 5 lifetime |
| Starter | 75 per month |
| Pro | Unlimited |
Message limits reset on the first of each month for Starter plans. Usage is shown in Settings → Subscription.
## High-value prompts by page
Use these as starting points. The more specific your prompt, the better Beat's response.
**Brand Beat:**
* "Review my positioning statement and tell me what's unclear."
* "My voice descriptors feel generic — give me 5 more specific alternatives."
* "Rewrite my value proposition to focus on the transformation, not the service."
**Strategy:**
* "What should I focus on this week based on my current content gaps?"
* "Which of my content pillars is most underserved right now?"
* "What's one thing I should stop doing that's not moving the needle?"
**Content Studio:**
* "Give me 5 article ideas based on my top content pillar."
* "What format should I use for a piece about \[topic]?"
* "What's an angle I haven't covered yet that my audience would care about?"
**Performance / SEO:**
* "Which keyword cluster should I target first?"
* "My SEO score is stuck at 58 — what's the fastest way to improve it?"
* "What content gaps am I missing in my \[pillar name] cluster?"

# Proposed Changes
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/beat/proposed-changes
How Beat's before/after change cards work and how to apply or dismiss them.
When Beat suggests edits to your brand profile or content, it doesn't overwrite your existing text. Instead, it presents a proposed change card — a structured before/after view that lets you see exactly what Beat wants to change before you decide whether to accept it.
## What proposed changes are
A proposed change is Beat's way of saying "here's what I think this should say — but you decide." Rather than dropping new text directly into a field, Beat shows you a side-by-side comparison so you stay in control.
Proposed changes appear when:
* You use the text selection popup (Sharpen / Simplify / Rewrite / Fix tone)
* Beat suggests an edit through the chat panel that affects a specific field in your brand profile
* Beat returns an improvement suggestion from a strategic review
## How to read a proposed change card
The card shows two versions of the text:
* **Original** — Your current text, shown on the left (or top on smaller screens). This is what's currently saved.
* **Beat's suggestion** — Beat's revised version, shown on the right (or bottom). This is what would be saved if you click Apply.
Read both versions before making a decision. Sometimes Beat's suggestion is a clear improvement. Sometimes your original is better, or Beat missed some nuance — that's what Dismiss is for.
## Apply
Clicking **Apply** saves Beat's suggested text directly to the field. The change takes effect immediately. No additional confirmation required.
Applying a change doesn't lock the field — it remains fully editable. If you apply something and then decide you don't like it, click directly into the field and edit it. You can also use the text selection popup again to take another pass.
## Dismiss
Clicking **Dismiss** discards Beat's suggestion and keeps your original text. Nothing changes. The proposed change card disappears.
Dismiss when:
* Beat missed important nuance in your original text
* The suggestion is technically correct but doesn't sound like you
* You want to try a different action (e.g., try Simplify instead of Sharpen)
## Multiple changes in one response
When Beat suggests several edits at once — for example, after a full brand review — each suggested change appears as a separate card. You can review and decide on them independently.
Apply some and dismiss others. Beat doesn't require you to accept all or nothing. Go through the cards one at a time and keep what improves your Brand Beat, discard what doesn't.
When you have multiple proposed changes, start with the ones for your positioning statement and voice descriptors. Those fields have the most downstream impact on Beat's content generation.
## After applying — fields stay editable
A common concern: "What if I apply a change and it's not quite right?" You can always edit a field after applying. Apply gets you 80% of the way there; you can fine-tune the rest directly in the field.
This is faster than trying to prompt Beat to get to exactly the right phrasing in one shot. Apply, then tweak.
## What's next?

# Text Selection
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/beat/text-selection
Use Beat's text selection popup to sharpen, simplify, rewrite, or fix the tone of any text.
The text selection popup lets you refine specific text in your Brand Beat profile without opening the chat panel or manually editing a field from scratch. Highlight any text, choose an action, and Beat returns a targeted suggestion.
## What the text selection popup is
When you highlight text on any Brand Beat page — inside a field like your positioning statement, a content pillar description, or your voice descriptors — a small popup appears with four action buttons. Click one and Beat processes just that selection, returning a proposed change for you to accept or dismiss.
This is different from the chat panel: the text selection popup is fast and scoped to a specific piece of text. No conversation required.
## The four actions
| Action | What it does | Best used for |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Sharpen** | Makes the language tighter and more specific, cuts filler words | Positioning statements that feel vague or too long |
| **Simplify** | Clears out jargon and complexity, makes the meaning easier to grasp | Value propositions heavy with buzzwords |
| **Rewrite** | Generates a fresh take on the same idea with different phrasing | When the current version doesn't feel right but you're not sure why |
| **Fix tone** | Rewrites the selection to better match your voice descriptors | Voice or tone text that sounds generic or off-brand |
## How to use it
Go to `/app/brand` and open any tab — Identity & Voice, Pillars & Content, Audience, etc.
Click and drag to highlight the text you want to refine. You can select a single sentence or an entire paragraph.
The popup appears above your selection with the four action buttons. Click whichever action fits your goal.
Beat returns a proposed change card showing your original text and the suggested version side by side. Apply it or dismiss it.
## Where it works
The text selection popup is active on Brand Beat pages:
* Identity & Voice fields (positioning, tagline, value proposition, voice descriptors, tone guidelines)
* Pillars & Content fields (pillar names, descriptions, editorial guidelines)
* Audience fields (ICP description, pain points, goals)
It also works inside the article editor — but with a slightly different action set tuned for long-form writing: **Make punchier**, **Simplify**, **Expand**, and **Fix tone**.
## Use cases by field type
**Positioning statement** — Sharpen is most useful here. Positioning statements tend to get wordy. Sharpen cuts it down to what actually matters.
**Voice descriptors** — Try Fix tone if your descriptors feel generic ("professional," "approachable"). Beat will translate those into more specific, characteristic phrases.
**Value proposition** — Simplify works well if you've written something packed with industry terms. Beat will find the plain-English version without losing the meaning.
**Content pillar descriptions** — Rewrite helps when a pillar description is technically accurate but doesn't feel right. Sometimes you need Beat to take a fresh angle at the same idea.
Use Sharpen on your positioning statement first. It's the most important field in Brand Beat, and it's the one that tends to be most over-written during the intake process.
## What happens after you click an action
Beat opens a proposed change card showing:
* The **original text** (left / top)
* Beat's **suggested revision** (right / bottom)
You can Apply the suggestion (it saves directly to the field) or Dismiss it (keeps the original). See [Proposed Changes](/beat/proposed-changes) for full details.

# Audience
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/audience
Define your ideal customer profile and how Beat uses it to personalize content.
Every piece of content Beat generates is written to a specific person — your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). The Audience tab is where you define who that person is. The more specific your audience definition, the more targeted and effective Beat's content becomes.
## What the Audience tab contains
| Field | What it captures |
| ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **ICP name** | A short label for this audience segment (e.g., "The Scaling Founder") |
| **Demographics** | Role, company size, industry, location, experience level |
| **Psychographics** | Mindset, values, aspirations, how they think about their problem |
| **Pain points** | The specific frustrations, fears, or blockers your ICP experiences |
| **Goals** | What they're actively trying to achieve (professional and personal) |
| **Buying triggers** | What prompts them to start looking for a solution like yours |
## How Beat uses audience data
Beat writes content "to" your ICP, not "at" a general audience. This means:
* Article introductions address your ICP's specific situation, not a generic reader
* Pain points surface in headlines and hooks so your content immediately resonates
* CTAs and offers are framed around your ICP's goals, not just your product features
* Beat's content recommendations prioritize topics that matter most to this specific person
A thin or generic audience definition produces content that feels like it was written for everyone — which means it resonates with no one.
## How to edit audience fields
Click directly on any audience field to edit it inline. Changes save automatically. You can update your ICP name, edit any demographic or psychographic detail, add new pain points, or refine buying triggers at any time.
The pain points field has the most impact on content targeting. Go beyond surface-level problems. "Can't generate consistent leads" is less useful than "Spends hours on content that doesn't convert because their messaging isn't specific enough to their niche."
## "Enhanced by Beat" flag
Some audience fields show an "Enhanced by Beat" badge. This means Beat has enriched the field using additional analysis — pulling from your brand positioning, content pillars, and any strategy data connected to your account (GA4, GSC).
Enhanced fields are suggestions based on Beat's analysis. Review them and adjust anything that doesn't accurately reflect your actual audience. You can always overwrite an enhanced field with your own text.
## Audience segments
Your Audience tab holds your primary ICP — the one Beat writes for by default. If you serve meaningfully different types of buyers, you can add context about secondary audiences in the additional context or editorial guidelines fields. Full multi-segment audience support is on the roadmap.
For now, focus on your primary ICP. Trying to write for two very different audiences at once usually results in content that works for neither. Lock in the primary, then layer in the secondary.
## Making your audience definition stronger
| Weak | Strong |
| --------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| "Small business owners" | "B2B service founders with 1–10 employees who are moving upmarket" |
| "Wants more clients" | "Wants a repeatable inbound channel so they can stop relying on referrals" |
| "Frustrated with marketing" | "Has tried content before but gave up because nothing got traction in the first 90 days" |
| "Sees an ad or referral" | "Gets triggered when a peer mentions their own content-driven growth at a mastermind" |
## What's next?

# Identity & Voice
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/identity-voice
Edit your brand name, positioning, tagline, voice descriptors, and tone guidelines.
The Identity & Voice tab holds everything that defines how your brand shows up — what you stand for, who you're for, and how you sound. Beat references these fields constantly when generating content, so keeping them accurate has a direct impact on output quality.
## What's in Identity & Voice
| Field | What it does |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Brand name** | Your business name as it appears in the market |
| **Tagline** | A short phrase that captures your positioning (optional but useful) |
| **Positioning statement** | Who you serve, what you do, and what makes you different — in one tight paragraph |
| **Value proposition** | The specific outcome or transformation you deliver to clients |
| **Voice descriptors** | 3–6 adjectives or short phrases that define your communication style |
| **Tone guidelines** | Nuance on how your tone shifts by context (e.g., "warmer in emails, more direct on LinkedIn") |
| **Banned phrases** | Words or phrases Beat will never use in your content |
Fonts, colors, and logos live on the **Visual** tab — not Identity & Voice.
## How to edit fields
Click directly on any field to edit it inline. Changes are saved automatically when you click out of the field. There's no save button to hit.
For longer fields like your positioning statement, highlight specific sentences and use the text selection popup to refine individual parts without rewriting the whole thing.
## Voice descriptors
Voice descriptors are the single most powerful input for making Beat sound like you. They're not just adjectives — they're active signals Beat uses when generating every piece of content.
Good voice descriptors are specific and create tension or contrast:
* "Direct and opinionated, but never preachy"
* "Warm and encouraging without being fluffy"
* "Data-driven with personality — backs every claim up"
* "Contrarian — challenges conventional wisdom by default"
Generic descriptors like "professional" or "friendly" give Beat very little to work with. Push toward the specific version of what those words mean for you.
## Tone guidelines
Tone guidelines go a layer deeper than voice descriptors. While descriptors define your overall style, tone guidelines capture how your voice adapts in different contexts.
Examples:
* "More formal in thought leadership articles, more casual in social posts"
* "Always direct in headlines and CTAs — no soft language"
* "Emails get a warmer, more personal opener than blog posts"
Beat uses these as a calibration layer when it detects the format or platform of what it's generating.
## Banned phrases
Add any words or phrases you never want Beat to use. Common examples:
* Overused AI phrases: "It's important to note," "In today's digital landscape," "game-changer," "leverage"
* Industry jargon you've moved away from
* Competitor branding you want to stay clear of
* Phrases that feel off-brand for your voice
To add a banned phrase: click into the banned phrases field, type the phrase, and hit Enter. Beat will actively avoid these in all generated output.
## Using the text selection popup
The text selection popup works inside any Brand Beat field. Select any text in the tab, and a four-option popup appears:
* **Sharpen** — Makes the language tighter and more specific. Best for positioning statements that feel vague.
* **Simplify** — Strips out complexity and makes the meaning clearer. Best for value propositions with too much jargon.
* **Rewrite** — Produces a fresh take on the same idea. Best when the current version doesn't feel right but you're not sure why.
* **Fix tone** — Rewrites the text to better match your voice descriptors. Best when you've drafted something but it doesn't sound like you.
After clicking an option, Beat returns a proposed change card. See [Proposed Changes](/beat/proposed-changes) for how to apply or dismiss it.

# Brand Beat Overview
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/overview
What Brand Beat is, what it powers, and how to maintain it.
Brand Beat is your complete brand profile — the foundational layer that every Beat output is built on. When Beat writes content, generates a strategy, or makes recommendations, it's drawing from what's in your Brand Beat.
## What Brand Beat powers
Brand Beat isn't just a profile you fill in once. It's a living document that continuously informs:
* **Strategy** — Beat's Recommended Moves and Growth Flywheel pull from your pillars, goals, and competitive context
* **Content** — Every article, email, and social post is written to your audience, in your voice, around your pillars
* **SEO** — Topic clusters and keyword opportunities are organized around your content pillars
* **Performance** — Beat interprets GA4 and GSC data through the lens of your brand goals
An incomplete Brand Beat leads to generic recommendations. A well-maintained Brand Beat makes Beat's output feel like you wrote it yourself.
## The six tabs
Tabs appear in this order on the Brand page:
| Tab | What it contains |
| --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Overview** | Completion score, brand summary, version history button, regenerate action |
| **Identity & Voice** | Brand name, tagline, positioning statement, value proposition, voice descriptors, tone guidelines, banned phrases |
| **Visual** | Logo, brand colors, fonts, visual direction |
| **Pillars & Content** | Content pillars (3–5), content formats, publishing frequency, editorial guidelines |
| **Audience** | ICP definition, demographics, psychographics, pain points, goals, buying triggers |
| **Training** | Writing samples tagged by content type and weighted by how well they match your voice |
## Completion score
The completion score (shown on the Overview tab) is a 0–100 measure of how complete your Brand Beat is. A higher score means Beat has more signal to work with.
Score ranges:
* **0–40** — Brand Beat is missing key sections. Beat's output will be generic.
* **41–70** — Core profile is in place but some sections need attention. Beat works reasonably well.
* **71–100** — Brand Beat is well-developed. Beat produces targeted, on-brand output.
To improve your score: complete any fields flagged as empty or thin, and add at least two training samples in the Training tab.
## How to edit Brand Beat
You can edit any field in Brand Beat at any time using three methods:
1. **Click-to-edit** — Click directly on any field in Brand Beat to edit it inline. Changes save automatically.
2. **Text selection popup** — Highlight any text in a Brand Beat field and use the Beat popup (Sharpen / Simplify / Rewrite / Fix tone) to refine it.
3. **Beat chat** — Ask Beat to rewrite a section in chat. Beat will return a proposed change card you can Apply or Dismiss.
Manual edits save immediately but do not create a new version in your version history. Only full regenerations create new versions.
## Version history
Every time you regenerate your Brand Beat, a snapshot of the previous version is saved automatically. You can view, compare, and restore previous versions from the Overview tab.
If you're considering a major brand pivot, regenerate rather than manually editing — this gives you a restore point if you want to go back.
## When to regenerate vs when to edit
| Situation | Do this |
| ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| Small tweaks to wording or tone | Edit fields directly |
| One section feels off | Edit that section, or use the text selection popup |
| Your business direction has changed | Regenerate (creates a new version, preserves the old one) |
| You've just completed a major repositioning | Regenerate with fresh intake answers |
## What's next?
Edit your positioning, voice descriptors, tone guidelines, and banned phrases.

# Pillars & Content
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/pillars-content
Set your content pillars, editorial formats, and publishing frequency.
Content pillars are the 3–5 core topics your brand owns. They give your content strategy coherence — instead of writing about whatever feels relevant each week, your content consistently builds authority in a defined set of areas. Beat uses your pillars to generate content ideas, structure strategy recommendations, and organize your SEO topic clusters.
## What content pillars are
A content pillar is a broad topic area that you own credibly and that matters to your audience. Each pillar should:
* Be directly connected to a problem your ICP faces
* Be something you have genuine expertise and opinions on
* Be specific enough to create a point of view, but broad enough to sustain dozens of pieces of content
Good pillars for a B2B marketing consultant might be: "Positioning strategy," "Content-led growth," and "Brand messaging for founders." Weak pillars are too generic ("Marketing" or "Business growth") or too narrow to sustain ongoing content.
## How Beat generates your pillars
During the Brand Beat intake, Beat uses your answers about topics you write about, your content goals, and your audience to generate 3–5 pillars. These are starting points — not final decisions. Review them and adjust them to reflect your actual expertise and priorities.
## Editing your pillars
To edit a pillar: click the pillar card to open the edit view. You can update the pillar name and the description Beat uses when generating content ideas for it.
To add a new pillar: click the "Add pillar" button. Give it a name and a short description of what it covers.
To remove a pillar: open the pillar card and click Delete. Note that removing a pillar may affect content recommendations and SEO topic clusters that referenced it.
Keep your pillars to 5 or fewer. More pillars dilute Beat's focus and make your content feel scattered. If you have more than 5 topics, consolidate or pick the ones that matter most right now.
## Content formats
The content formats section tells Beat which formats you want to prioritize. These selections inform what Beat recommends in Content Studio and what the autopilot drafts for you.
Available formats: Articles / Blog posts, LinkedIn posts, Email newsletters, Facebook posts, Instagram posts, Threads, Lead magnets.
To update your formats: click into the formats field and toggle the formats you want Beat to focus on.
## Publishing frequency
Publishing frequency sets your content cadence — how many pieces you publish per week. Beat uses this to:
* Calibrate how many drafts the Autopilot generates
* Set the "cadence bar" target in the Content Planner
* Pace Strategy recommendations so they match what's actually achievable
To update your frequency: click the frequency field and select from the dropdown (1x/week, 2x/week, 3x/week, 5x/week, daily).
Be honest about your current frequency, not your aspirational one. If you want to scale up, increase the number once you're consistently hitting the lower target.
## Editorial guidelines
Editorial guidelines are house rules that apply to all of your content. Beat follows these guidelines when generating any output.
Examples of what to put here:
* "Always include a concrete example or case study"
* "End every article with a clear call to action"
* "No listicles without a synthesis paragraph at the end"
* "Avoid making unsubstantiated claims — cite sources or use hedged language"
To edit: click the editorial guidelines field and type directly. Save by clicking outside the field.
## How pillars connect to the rest of UPBEAT OS
* **Content Studio** — The "Do This Next" cards are organized around your pillars, so Beat's recommendations always tie back to your strategic focus areas
* **Strategy** — The weekly strategy report shows which pillars are getting enough content, which are thin, and which have untapped keyword opportunities
* **Performance** — SEO topic clusters are built around your pillars; your score in each cluster reflects how well you're covering that pillar across your content
## What's next?

# Training
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/training
Feed Beat examples of your writing so it sounds like you.
Training is the highest-impact thing you can do to improve Beat's output quality. Voice descriptors and tone guidelines tell Beat how you sound in the abstract. Training samples show Beat exactly how you sound in practice — and that difference is significant.
## Why training matters
AI models are pattern matchers. When Beat has real examples of your writing, it can match your rhythm, sentence length, transition style, how you open paragraphs, how aggressive your CTAs are, and dozens of other micro-patterns that make your voice recognizable. Without training samples, Beat defaults to polished-but-generic. With 2–3 strong samples, the difference in output quality is immediate.
## The three weights
When you add a training sample, you assign one of three weights:
| Option | Badge shown in list | What it means |
| ------------------------------------------- | ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **This is exactly how I want to sound** | On voice | Your voice at its best. Beat actively learns from and emulates this style. |
| **This is okay but not ideal** | Okay | Acceptable but not representative. Beat understands you write this way but won't lean into it. |
| **This is what I DON'T want to sound like** | Anti | What you want Beat to actively avoid. |
You also tag each sample by **content type**: Blog post, Email, Bio, About page, Social post, Sales copy, or Other. The tag helps Beat apply the sample's voice patterns in matching contexts.
## How to add a training sample
Navigate to `/app/brand` and click the **Training** tab.
Click the **+ Add sample** button to open the sample input.
Paste a piece of your writing. A full blog post, a LinkedIn article, an email newsletter, or a long-form social post all work well. The sample should be long enough (200+ words minimum) to show Beat your natural patterns.
Choose the content type (Blog post, Email, Bio, About page, Social post, Sales copy, Other) and the weight (**This is exactly how I want to sound**, **This is okay but not ideal**, or **This is what I DON'T want to sound like**).
The sample is saved immediately and Beat begins using it for your next generation.
## What types of content to use
The best training samples are real pieces you've already published. Good options:
* A blog post or article you're proud of
* A LinkedIn article that got strong engagement
* An email newsletter that felt authentically you
* A long-form social post with your signature voice
Avoid using: pieces that were heavily edited by someone else, content you wrote in a rush, or anything that doesn't reflect how you'd write today.
## How many samples you need
You only need **2–3 "exactly how I want to sound" samples** to start seeing a meaningful improvement. You don't need to upload your entire content archive.
* **2–3 samples** — Beat gets a baseline understanding of your voice
* **5–10 samples** — Beat's voice accuracy becomes noticeably more consistent
* **10+ samples** — Best results, especially if your content spans multiple formats
## When to add more
Add new training samples when:
* Beat's output starts drifting from your style (common after a few weeks of heavy use)
* You've evolved your voice or brand positioning significantly
* Beat keeps producing a pattern you don't like, even after tweaking your voice descriptors
## Anti-reference examples
Anti-reference samples are just as useful as positive examples. Use them for:
* **Generic AI output** — paste a piece of AI-generated content that sounds robotic or over-polished. This trains Beat on what to avoid.
* **Competitor style you dislike** — if there's a writing style in your industry that feels off-brand for you, add it as an anti-reference.
* **Your own weak content** — a piece you wrote when you were trying too hard, being too formal, or using jargon you've since dropped.
* **Passive voice or hedged language** — if you want Beat to be more direct, paste examples of overly cautious writing as anti-references.
If Beat keeps using a phrase or structure that feels wrong, find a good example of that pattern and add it as an anti-reference. This is often faster than tweaking voice descriptors.

# Version History
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/brand/version-history
View and restore previous versions of your Brand Beat.
Every time you regenerate your Brand Beat, UPBEAT OS automatically saves a snapshot of the previous version. Version history gives you a safety net — you can explore new brand directions without losing what you had before.
## What version history is
A version is a full snapshot of your Brand Beat at a specific point in time — capturing every field across Identity & Voice, Visual, Pillars & Content, Audience, and Training. Versions are created only by full regenerations, not by manual field edits.
If you've regenerated your Brand Beat three times, you'll have three saved versions plus your current version.
Version history is a paid feature. **Starter** plans see and restore the most recent version; **Pro** plans see full history (up to 50 versions). Free plans don't see version history but their edits are still being snapshotted in the background — upgrading later unlocks the saved versions.
## How to view version history
Navigate to `/app/brand` and make sure you're on the **Overview** tab.
On the Overview tab, click the **Version history** button. A modal opens with a list of saved versions, each with a timestamp and brief summary.
## Comparing versions
When you open version history, you can click any saved version to preview it. The preview shows you the content of that version across all tabs so you can compare it to your current Brand Beat.
Look for changes in:
* Positioning statement wording
* Voice descriptor choices
* Content pillar names and descriptions
* Audience pain points and psychographics
If you're not sure whether to keep a new regeneration or go back, spend a few minutes reading both versions' positioning statements side by side. The one that more clearly describes what you actually do is usually the right one to keep.
## How to restore a previous version
Navigate to the Overview tab and click the **Version history** button.
Click on the version you want to go back to. Preview it to confirm it's the right one.
Click the **Restore** button on the version preview. This makes that version your active Brand Beat.
Restoring a previous version replaces your current Brand Beat. Your current version is saved automatically before the restore completes, so you can undo if needed.
## Manual edits vs regeneration
| Action | Creates a new version? |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------- |
| Clicking a field and editing it directly | No |
| Using the text selection popup (Sharpen / Simplify / Rewrite) | No |
| Applying a proposed change from Beat chat | No |
| Clicking Regenerate on the Overview tab | Yes |
Manual edits let you make surgical changes without creating clutter in your version history. Regeneration is for when you want Beat to take a fresh pass at your entire brand profile — typically after a significant repositioning or after completing additional training samples.
## When to regenerate vs when to edit
Use **edit** when:
* A specific field is off but the rest of your Brand Beat is solid
* You want to adjust your tone, swap out a pillar name, or update a pain point
* You've added new training samples and want to see how they change one section
Use **regenerate** when:
* Your business direction has meaningfully changed
* You're launching a new offer or pivoting your positioning
* Your audience has shifted significantly
* You want a complete fresh take with your new intake answers

# Article Editor
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/content/article-editor
Write and edit articles with Beat's inline AI assistance.
The article editor is a full rich-text environment with Beat built in. You can write from scratch, edit Beat-generated drafts, and use Beat inline to refine specific sections — all without switching between tools.
## How to open the editor
Two paths lead to the editor:
* **From Articles:** Go to `/app/articles` and click the **Write** button in the top-right corner.
* **From Content Studio:** Select the Article format and complete the generation form. Beat generates your draft and opens it directly in the editor.
## Editor layout
The editor has three main zones:
* **Title bar** — Your article headline. Click to edit. This becomes the H1 on publish.
* **Meta description field** — Below the title. Set this before publishing for SEO. Beat can suggest one if you ask.
* **Body** — The main writing area. Full rich-text editor with toolbar.
* **Sidebar** — Beat access, tags, format settings, and publish options.
## Formatting
The toolbar above the body gives you standard formatting options:
| Format | What it does |
| -------------- | ------------------------------- |
| H2 / H3 | Section and sub-section headers |
| **Bold** | Emphasize key points |
| *Italic* | Titles, subtle emphasis |
| Unordered list | Bullet points |
| Ordered list | Numbered steps |
| Blockquote | Pull quotes, callouts |
| Link | Insert hyperlinks |
| Image | Insert images by URL or upload |
Use H2 for main sections and H3 for sub-sections within those. Beat-generated articles follow this structure automatically.
## Beat inline
Two ways to use Beat in the editor:
1. **AskBeat button** — In the sidebar, the AskBeat button opens Beat's chat panel with the current article loaded as context. Ask Beat to improve a section, add an example, write a better intro, or suggest a stronger CTA.
2. **Text selection popup** — Highlight any text in the body and the popup appears with **Make punchier**, **Simplify**, **Expand**, and **Fix tone** — actions tuned for long-form writing. Click one, Beat returns a proposed change, apply or dismiss.
For longer articles, use Beat to work section by section rather than asking it to "improve the whole article." Section-level feedback produces more targeted, useful suggestions.
## Auto-save
The editor saves automatically every few seconds. You'll see a small "Saved" indicator in the top-right when your changes are synced. You don't need to manually save — but if you want to force a save before closing, use Cmd+S (Mac) or Ctrl+S (Windows).
## Meta description
The meta description field sits below the title. It's what appears in Google search results under your article headline. Beat can generate one — just click in the field and ask Beat in chat, or use the "Generate meta description" button if it's visible.
Keep meta descriptions between 120–160 characters for best display in search results.
## Tags
Tags let you categorize articles for filtering in the Content Planner. Assign one or more tags in the sidebar. Tags don't affect SEO or publishing — they're organizational only.
## Publishing from the editor
When your article is ready to publish:
1. Click the **Publish** button in the sidebar.
2. Choose your destination:
* **WordPress** — Pushes the article to your connected WordPress site. You can publish immediately or schedule for a specific date and time.
* **Save to Pipeline** — Moves the article to Approved in your Content Planner without publishing it.
3. Confirm and publish.
WordPress must be connected before you can publish to it. Connect it from the **Integrations** section of [Settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings). See the [WordPress integration guide](/integrations/wordpress) for setup steps.
## Keyboard shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
| ---------------------- | ----------- |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + B` | Bold |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + I` | Italic |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + K` | Insert link |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + Z` | Undo |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Z` | Redo |
| `Cmd/Ctrl + S` | Force save |

# Creating Content
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/content/creating-content
How to create articles, emails, social posts, and lead magnets in Content Studio.
Content Studio at `/app/create` is where all new content starts. Instead of a blank canvas, you land on Beat's decision engine — a curated set of recommendations for what to create next, based on your brand, strategy, and current content gaps.
## The decision engine
The top section of Content Studio shows Beat's "Do This Next" cards. These aren't random suggestions — they're prioritized recommendations based on:
* Your current content pillars and which ones are thin
* Open keyword opportunities from your SEO data
* Your publishing cadence and what's due
* Recent content performance patterns
Each card shows the recommended action, the content format, and a brief reason why Beat is recommending it. Click any card to jump directly into the creation flow for that piece.
## Fresh Ideas panel
Below the decision engine is the Fresh Ideas panel — new content concepts Beat has generated based on your brand and current strategy. These ideas are organized by content pillar and show a working title, suggested format, and estimated impact.
Click any idea to start creating it. The idea's working title and pillar context are pre-loaded into the generation form.
Refresh the Fresh Ideas panel after updating your Brand Beat or running a new strategy report. Beat generates new ideas based on your latest context.
## Choosing a format
If you want to create something specific rather than following Beat's recommendations, jump into one of the Studio formats:
* **Article** — Long-form, SEO-optimized content for your blog or WordPress site
* **Email** — Single email or sequence step; routes to Klaviyo, Gmail, or Resend
* **Social** — Platform-tuned posts for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or Threads
* **Lead Magnet** — Guides, checklists, or frameworks with full structure and copy
* **Remix** — Take an existing article and reshape it into other formats (social posts, email, etc.) in one pass
Each format has its own generation flow with fields relevant to that format.
## How Brand Beat pre-fills the generation form
When you start a new piece of content, Beat pre-fills key fields from your Brand Beat:
* Your content pillar (based on which pillar is most relevant to your chosen topic)
* Your target audience (your ICP definition flows directly in)
* Your voice and tone (Beat applies your voice descriptors automatically)
* Any banned phrases (Beat filters these from all output)
You can override any pre-filled field before generating. But in most cases, Beat's defaults will be right — which means you get from "create new" to a solid first draft in a few clicks.
## Review and edit
After generation, the content appears in a review view. For articles, you're taken directly into the full editor. For emails and social posts, the content appears inline with options to edit, regenerate, or save.
From the review view you can:
* Edit any section directly
* Click **Regenerate** to get a new version (this uses one of your monthly article/format credits)
* Ask Beat in the chat panel to revise specific sections
## Saving to pipeline vs publishing immediately
After reviewing your content, you have two paths:
* **Save to pipeline** — Sends the draft to your Content Planner (`/app/content`) in the Drafting column, where you can move it through review → approval → published stages.
* **Publish immediately** — Available for social posts and, if WordPress is connected, articles. Publishes directly to the destination platform.
For most content, saving to pipeline is the better choice — it gives you a review step before anything goes live.
## Continuing in-progress work
Your recent drafts appear at the bottom of Content Studio. Click any draft to reopen it where you left off. Drafts are also visible in the Content Planner under the Drafting column.

# Content Formats
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/content/formats
Articles, emails, social posts, lead magnets, and remixes — what each format does and when to use it.
UPBEAT OS supports five content formats, each with its own generation flow, editing experience, and publishing path. Here's what each format is for and when to use it.
## Articles
**What it is:** Long-form, SEO-optimized content — blog posts, thought leadership pieces, how-to guides, and deep-dives. Articles go through the full rich-text editor with inline Beat assistance.
**When to use it:** When you want to build organic search traffic, establish authority on a topic, or create anchor content that other formats (emails, social posts) can reference and repurpose.
**Word count:** 600–2,500 words depending on the topic. Beat picks a default length based on your topic and audience; you can adjust it in the generation form.
**Where it goes after creation:** Saved to the Content Planner pipeline. From there, you can move it through Draft → Review → Approved before publishing. When ready to publish, connect WordPress to auto-push or export as HTML/Markdown.
**Limit:** 3 lifetime (Free) / 15 per month (Starter) / Unlimited (Pro).
***
## Email
**What it is:** Single marketing emails or individual steps in a multi-step sequence. Beat generates the subject line, preview text, and full email body in your voice, written to your ICP.
**When to use it:** For newsletter sends, nurture emails, product announcements, follow-up sequences, or any direct-to-inbox communication. Use single emails for one-off sends; use sequences for multi-step automation.
**Word count:** 150–400 words for most marketing emails. Beat defaults to concise but can produce longer deep-dive newsletters on request.
**Where it goes after creation:** You can push to Klaviyo (appears as a broadcast draft you review and send from Klaviyo), create a Gmail draft (appears in your drafts folder — UPBEAT OS never auto-sends), or route through Resend with your custom domain. UPBEAT OS never sends email autonomously.
**Limit:** Free tier cannot generate emails. Starter: 50 emails per month. Pro: unlimited.
***
## Social Post
**What it is:** Platform-specific posts for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or Threads. Beat adapts the format, length, and tone for each platform automatically.
**When to use it:** To stay active on social channels, drive traffic back to articles, share quick insights or opinions, or repurpose long-form content into shareable formats.
**Length guidance:**
* LinkedIn: 800–1,200 characters for organic posts; shorter for punchy hooks
* Facebook / Instagram: 100–300 characters for best engagement
* Threads: 500 characters max
**Where it goes after creation:** You can publish immediately to a connected platform or save to your Library for scheduling. Scheduling and multi-platform posting happen from the post itself — there's no separate Publishing surface in the sidebar.
**Limit:** 3 lifetime (Free) / Unlimited (Starter and Pro).
***
## Lead Magnet
**What it is:** Structured downloadable content — guides, checklists, frameworks, templates, and reports. Beat generates the structure (sections, subsections) and the full body copy.
**When to use it:** As a content upgrade for high-traffic articles, an opt-in incentive to grow your email list, or a standalone offer that demonstrates your expertise.
**Length guidance:** Beat defaults to a 5–7 page guide structure (approximately 1,500–2,500 words). You can request shorter checklists or longer comprehensive guides in the generation form.
**Where it goes after creation:** Saved to your Library. Lead magnets don't have a direct publish path from UPBEAT OS — you'll typically export the copy, format it in your preferred design tool (Canva, Google Docs, Notion), and host the final PDF or page yourself. Connect it to your email flows via the Lead Magnet section at `/app/funnel`.
***
## Remix
**What it is:** Take an existing article and reshape it into other formats — LinkedIn posts, email pulls, social threads, etc. — in one pass. Beat picks the right hooks and angles for each destination format.
**When to use it:** When you've published an article and want maximum reach across channels without rewriting each format from scratch.
**Where it goes after creation:** Each remixed format lands in your Library tagged with the source article so you can trace it back.
**Limit:** Free can pick **1 destination format** per remix and gets **1 remix lifetime**. Starter picks up to **3 formats per remix** and has unlimited remixes. Pro picks any number of formats per remix.
***
## Comparing formats at a glance
| Format | Best for | Publish destination |
| ----------- | ------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Article | SEO, authority, anchor content | WordPress, Library |
| Email | Nurture, newsletters, sequences | Klaviyo / Gmail / Resend |
| Social Post | Reach, traffic, repurposing | LinkedIn / Facebook / Instagram / Threads |

# Content Pipeline
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/content/pipeline
How to manage your content through Drafting, Needs Review, Approved, and Published stages.
The Content Planner at `/app/content` is where you manage everything from first draft to published. It offers three lenses on the same content: a Kanban pipeline, a calendar, and a list view. Switch between them using the view toggle at the top of the page.
## The three lenses
| Lens | Best for |
| ------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pipeline** | Seeing your content by stage, spotting what's stuck, moving pieces forward |
| **Calendar** | Planning your schedule, visualizing publish density, dragging to reschedule |
| **List** | Filtering, sorting, searching, and managing your full content library |
## Pipeline stages
The Pipeline lens shows your content organized into four columns:
1. **Drafting** — Content being generated or actively worked on. Auto-drafted content also lands here first.
2. **Needs Review** — Content you've finished writing and want to review before approving.
3. **Approved** — Content that's been reviewed and is ready to publish when the time is right.
4. **Published** — Content that's live.
## Moving content through stages
**Drag in Pipeline view:** Grab any card and drag it to a different column. The stage updates immediately.
**Status picker:** Open any content item and use the status dropdown to change its stage. This works across all three lenses.
Moving content to Approved doesn't publish it — it just marks it as ready. Publishing is a separate step you initiate from the article editor or the Publishing section.
## Calendar lens
The Calendar lens shows your content plotted against the days you've scheduled them to publish. Use it to:
* **Spot over-scheduling:** If you have 4 posts on one day and nothing for two weeks, the calendar makes that obvious
* **Drag to reschedule:** Grab a content card and drag it to a different day to change its scheduled date
* **See publish slots:** Beat highlights recommended publish days based on your audience and past performance
The calendar shows your cadence target as a baseline. Aim to fill at least that many slots per week. If you're consistently falling short, lower your cadence in Brand Beat rather than leaving the calendar empty — Beat calibrates recommendations to your actual target.
## List lens
The List lens is your full content library with filtering and sorting. Use it to:
* Find a specific piece by title or keyword
* Filter by format (articles, emails, social posts, lead magnets)
* Filter by status (Drafting, Needs Review, Approved, Published)
* Filter by date range
* Sort by created date, updated date, or scheduled date
## Cadence bar
The cadence bar (visible in Pipeline and Calendar views) shows how many pieces of content are scheduled per week against your target cadence from Brand Beat. If you're on track, it shows green. If you're falling behind, it shows amber.
Use the cadence bar as a quick weekly check: if it's amber, head to Content Studio and create or approve a few pieces to get back on track.
## Best publish slots
Beat shows recommended publish times on the Calendar lens based on:
* Your audience's engagement patterns (if GA4 is connected)
* Platform-specific best practices for your active channels
* Your current publishing cadence
These are suggestions, not requirements. Publish when it works for you — but if you're unsure when to schedule something, Beat's recommendations are a reliable default.
## Filtering by format, status, or date range
In the List lens, the filter bar at the top lets you narrow your view:
* **Format** — Show only articles, only emails, only social posts, etc.
* **Status** — Show only content in a specific stage
* **Date range** — Show content scheduled or created within a specific window
Filters combine: you can filter to "Approved articles scheduled this week" in a few clicks.

# Email Overview
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/email/overview
Build email sequences, manage contacts, and send through Klaviyo, Gmail, or Resend.
The Email section at `/app/email` is where you create and manage email content — from one-off newsletters to multi-step nurture sequences. Beat writes your emails in your voice; you review, refine, and send through your preferred email service.
## Two sending options
UPBEAT OS supports two email-sending routes. Pick one in the Email sender section of Settings:
| Option | Best for | How it works |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **UPBEAT shared sender** | Getting started without setup, or low-volume sends | UPBEAT routes the email through its shared Resend infrastructure. Zero configuration — your From name appears on the email but the sending domain is shared. |
| **Bring your own Resend** | Custom domain sending with full DKIM/SPF authentication and best deliverability | Connect your own Resend account, pick a verified domain, and every send routes through your account. |
UPBEAT OS never sends email automatically. You always initiate the send from the email or sequence detail page.
## Email sequences vs one-off emails
**One-off emails** are single standalone messages — newsletters, announcements, content roundups. You create them one at a time and send them via your configured sender route.
**Sequences** are multi-step email series — welcome sequences, nurture flows, onboarding tracks. Beat writes each step, you configure the delays between steps, and you send each step manually from the sequence detail page.
## KPI strip
At the top of the Email page, the KPI strip shows your email performance metrics:
* **Open rate** — Percentage of recipients who opened your emails
* **Click rate** — Percentage of openers who clicked a link
* **Subscriber count** — Total active subscribers
KPI data comes from delivery events on your sent campaigns and refreshes daily.
## Contacts
Your email contacts are managed at `/app/contacts`. From there you can:
* View all contacts with their status (subscribed, unsubscribed, suppressed)
* Create and manage segments
* Enroll contacts in sequences
* Export contacts
## Sender setup
Before sending emails, configure your sender identity from the **Email sender** section of [Settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings):
* **From name** — The name recipients see in their inbox (e.g., "Steph from UPBEAT")
* **From address** — The email address you send from
* **Sending route** — Which provider handles delivery (Resend, Gmail, or Klaviyo)
See [Email Sender Setup](/email/sender-setup) for step-by-step instructions on each option.
## Plan limits
| Plan | Email generations |
| ------- | ---------------------------- |
| Free | 0 (gated — upgrade required) |
| Starter | 50 emails per month |
| Pro | Unlimited |
Each email Beat drafts — whether a one-off newsletter or one step in a sequence — counts as one email generation against your monthly limit. There's no separate sequence quota.
## What's next?

# Email Sender Setup
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/email/sender-setup
Configure your From name and email address for sending.
Your sender configuration determines whose name appears in recipients' inboxes, which email address you send from, and which service handles delivery. Getting this right matters for both brand consistency and email deliverability.
## Why sender setup matters
When someone receives an email from you, the first thing they see is your From name and address. A professional, recognizable sender identity improves open rates and builds trust. On the deliverability side, sending from a properly authenticated domain (DKIM + SPF) dramatically reduces the chance of your emails landing in spam.
## The two sender options
| Option | Best for | Setup complexity |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **UPBEAT shared sender** | Default. Zero-config. Good for getting started. | None — works out of the box |
| **Bring your own Resend** | Custom domain, full DKIM/SPF authentication, best deliverability | Medium — requires a Resend account, a verified domain, and DNS records |
## Setting up Resend
Resend gives you full control over your sending domain with DKIM and SPF authentication. It's the recommended option for any founder sending email at scale.
Open [Settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) and scroll to the **Integrations** section, find the Resend card, and click **Connect**. You'll be asked for your Resend API key, which you can find in your [Resend dashboard](https://resend.com).
In Resend's dashboard, go to Domains and click **Add Domain**. Enter the domain you want to send from (e.g., yourdomain.com).
Resend will show you two sets of DNS records to add: **DKIM** (a TXT record) and **SPF** (another TXT record). Add these to your domain's DNS settings through your domain registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.).
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, though they're often active within a few hours.
Back in Resend's dashboard, click **Verify** once you've added the DNS records. When Resend shows a green Verified status, your domain is ready to send.
Open Settings and scroll to the **Email sender** section. Enter:
* **From name** — How you want to appear (e.g., "Steph from UPBEAT" or your company name)
* **From address** — A verified address on your domain (e.g., [hello@yourdomain.com](mailto:hello@yourdomain.com))
* **Sending route** — Select Resend
## Using the UPBEAT shared sender
If you don't connect Resend, UPBEAT OS sends through its shared Resend infrastructure. Your From name appears on the email and recipients see UPBEAT's shared sending domain. This is fine for low-volume sends and getting started, but for serious email at scale, switch to Bring Your Own Resend so you control the domain reputation.
## What DKIM and SPF are
If you're setting up Resend with a custom domain, you'll need to add two DNS records:
* **SPF (Sender Policy Framework)** — A DNS record that tells receiving mail servers which services are authorized to send email on behalf of your domain. Without it, your emails are more likely to be flagged as suspicious.
* **DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)** — A cryptographic signature that verifies your email hasn't been tampered with in transit. It's the strongest signal of sender legitimacy for inbox providers like Gmail and Outlook.
Both are TXT records you add to your domain's DNS settings. Your domain registrar's help docs will have instructions for adding TXT records if you're not familiar with the process.
## Setting your From name and address
Regardless of which sender option you use, configure your From name and address in the Email sender section of Settings:
* **From name** — What recipients see in the "From" field (your name, your brand name, or a combination)
* **From address** — The email address you're sending from (must be on your verified Resend domain when using BYO Resend)
* **Reply-to** — Optional address replies should route to
Save your settings. These apply to all emails Beat generates for you going forward.
## What's next?
Build multi-step sequences once your sender is configured.
Connect Resend for custom domain sending with authentication.
# Email Sequences
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/email/sequences
Build multi-step email sequences that Beat writes for you.
Email sequences are multi-step automated email series — welcome flows, nurture tracks, onboarding drips, re-engagement campaigns. Beat writes every step; you set the delays and review the copy before anything goes to your list.
## What a sequence is
A sequence is a series of emails triggered in order, with configurable time delays between each step. Common types:
* **Welcome sequence** — 3–5 emails sent to new subscribers over 1–2 weeks
* **Nurture sequence** — Educational content that builds trust before a sales conversation
* **Onboarding sequence** — Guides new users or clients through getting started
* **Re-engagement sequence** — Reaches out to subscribers who haven't opened in 60+ days
## Creating a new sequence
Navigate to `/app/email` and click **New Sequence**.
Give your sequence a clear name (e.g., "Welcome Sequence — Free Trial"). Select the goal from the dropdown: nurture, onboarding, sales, re-engagement, etc. Beat uses this to write copy that fits the right intent.
Beat generates a recommended sequence structure — usually 3–5 steps for a standard welcome or nurture flow. It drafts a subject line, preview text, and full body copy for each step. Review Beat's structure and adjust the number of steps if needed.
Click into each step to read the email Beat wrote. Edit subject lines, adjust body copy, or ask Beat in the chat panel to rewrite any section. Use the text selection popup to sharpen specific paragraphs.
For each step, configure when it sends relative to the previous one. Common delays: 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, 1 week, 2 weeks.
Sequence sends are manual — open each step from the sequence detail page and trigger the send when the time is right. UPBEAT OS routes the email through your configured sender (UPBEAT shared or your BYO Resend domain).
## Adding steps manually
After Beat generates the initial structure, you can add additional steps:
1. Scroll to the bottom of the sequence steps.
2. Click **Add Step**.
3. Give Beat a brief description of what this email should cover.
4. Beat generates the draft. Review and edit it.
5. Set the delay for this step.
## Sending sequence steps
Sends happen step-by-step from the sequence detail page. Click into a step, review or edit the copy, and send when the time is right. UPBEAT OS routes the send through your configured sender:
* **UPBEAT shared sender** — Default zero-config option, sent from UPBEAT's shared Resend domain
* **Bring your own Resend** — Sent from your verified domain via your connected Resend account
UPBEAT OS never auto-sends — every step requires you to initiate it.
## Email limits by tier
| Plan | Emails per month |
| ------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Free | 0 (sequences gated — upgrade required) |
| Starter | 50 |
| Pro | Unlimited |
Each email step Beat drafts counts as one email generation against your monthly cap. A 5-step welcome sequence consumes 5 of your monthly emails. There's no separate sequence quota.
## Editing a sequence after creation
You can edit any step in a sequence at any time:
1. Open the sequence from `/app/email`.
2. Click the step you want to edit.
3. Make your changes directly or ask Beat to revise the copy.
If you've already pushed to Klaviyo, you'll need to re-push the updated step to sync changes. UPBEAT OS will prompt you when there are unpushed changes.
## What's next?
Configure which provider handles your email delivery.
Connect Klaviyo to push sequences as broadcast drafts.
# Brand Beat Quickstart
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/getting-started/brand-beat-quickstart
Walk through the Brand Beat setup — a short conversation that generates your full brand profile.
Brand Beat is the foundation of everything in UPBEAT OS. Before Beat can generate strategy-aligned content, write in your voice, or give you useful recommendations, it needs to know your brand. Setup is a short conversation — not a form — and the whole thing takes about 5 minutes.
To get started, go to [useupbeat.com/app/brand](https://useupbeat.com/app/brand) and click **Set up Brand Beat**.
Don't aim for perfect answers. You can edit every field after generation. The goal is to give Beat enough signal to work with — "good enough to start" is exactly right.
## How the conversation works
The setup flow is adaptive. Beat asks only what it doesn't already know — so if your website gives it a clear picture of your brand, you might get to generation with just a handful of exchanges. If you're starting without a website, Beat will ask a few more follow-up questions.
Beat starts by introducing itself and asking for your website URL. This step is optional.
If your website already reflects your brand well, paste the URL. Beat will scrape your site and pre-fill your brand profile fields automatically — this is the fastest path through setup.
If you don't have a website, or don't want to use it, just type **"skip"** or **"no website"** and Beat moves on.
If the scrape succeeded, Beat shows a **Validation Card** with what it found: your business name, description, ideal customer, and primary goal — all pulled from your site.
You choose one of three options:
* **Looks good** — Accept the scraped data and continue
* **Let me tweak it** — Keep the data but adjust individual fields
* **Start fresh** — Discard everything and answer questions from scratch
If Beat couldn't scrape enough useful information from your site, it will skip the Validation Card and ask follow-up questions directly.
Based on what Beat already knows — either from your site or your previous answers — it asks about any gaps. The questions are dynamic, so you won't see the same set every time.
Topics Beat may ask about:
* What's your business name?
* What does your business do?
* Who's your ideal customer?
* What's your primary goal for the next 6 months?
* What makes you different? *(optional)*
* How would you describe your voice and tone? *(optional)*
Beat keeps this conversational and caps out at around 8 turns — if it still has gaps after that, it generates your profile with what it has.
The more specific you are, the better Beat's output. "I help Series A SaaS founders reduce churn through onboarding programs" is more useful than "I do marketing consulting."
Once Beat has enough to work with, it starts generating your brand profile in the background. While it works, it asks 3 quick **pulse questions** — these take about a minute and help Beat understand where you are right now:
* How do you feel about your current brand? *(options: "I love it — just need structure" / "Okay but needs refining" / "Ready for significant refresh" / "Starting from scratch")*
* What would you most like to change?
* What's been your biggest marketing frustration?
Your answers here are used to personalize Beat's recommendations and tone when it talks to you going forward.
When generation completes, your full brand profile is live across all tabs — positioning, voice, content pillars, audience definition, and editorial guidelines.
Generation takes about 30–60 seconds. When it's done, you land on your Brand Beat Overview.
## What Beat generates
After setup, your brand profile is populated across all tabs (in this order):
* **Overview** — Summary of your brand with a completion score
* **Identity & Voice** — Brand name, tagline, positioning statement, value proposition, voice descriptors, tone guidelines, banned phrases
* **Visual** — Logo, brand colors, fonts, and visual direction
* **Pillars & Content** — 3–5 content pillars, preferred formats, publishing frequency, editorial guidelines
* **Audience** — Full ICP definition with demographics, psychographics, pain points, goals, and buying triggers
* **Training** — Where you add writing samples to sharpen Beat's voice (you'll fill this in next)
Everything Beat generates is editable. If something is off, click into any field on the relevant tab and update it directly. Beat learns from your edits over time.
## What's next?
Understand what each tab in Brand Beat contains and how to maintain your profile.
Add writing samples so Beat learns to sound like you — the single highest-impact step after setup.

# Introduction
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/getting-started/introduction
What UPBEAT Growth OS is, who it's for, and how to get started.
UPBEAT Growth OS is an AI-powered content marketing platform built for founders who are serious about turning content into a repeatable growth engine.
## What is UPBEAT Growth OS?
Most content tools help you write faster. UPBEAT OS helps you think smarter — building a complete brand foundation, generating strategy-aligned content, and tracking what's actually working. Everything runs through one AI agent named Beat, who learns your brand, your audience, and your voice, then works alongside you across every part of your marketing.
It's not a writing assistant. It's a growth operating system.
## Who it's for
UPBEAT OS is built for:
* **Founders and solo marketers** who haven't fully locked in their brand positioning and voice yet, and want AI to help them get there faster
* **Post-product-market-fit teams** who are ready to invest in content as a growth channel but don't have a full marketing org
* **Anyone who wants a system**, not just a tool — something that connects brand, strategy, content, SEO, and distribution in one place
If you're still figuring out what your brand stands for, Beat will help you get there. If you already know, Beat will amplify it.
## Meet Beat
Beat is the AI agent that powers everything in UPBEAT OS. There's no team of agents to manage — just Beat. Beat reads your brand profile, understands your strategy, and shifts its behavior based on which part of the app you're working in.
Ask Beat to review your positioning. Have Beat draft an article. Let Beat run your content on autopilot while you focus on the business. Beat handles all of it.
## How UPBEAT OS is organized
The sidebar groups the app into a few core areas:

# Setup Guide
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/getting-started/setup
Five steps to get UPBEAT Growth OS fully configured — from your first login to your first piece of content.
## Overview
Setup takes about 20–30 minutes end to end. You don't have to do it all at once — the app tracks your progress and you can pick up where you left off anytime. The setup checklist lives at [/app/setup](https://useupbeat.com/app/setup).
The five steps in order:
1. Create your account
2. Build your Brand Beat
3. Connect your apps
4. Create your first piece of content
5. Train Beat on your voice
***
## Step 1 — Create your account
Sign up at [useupbeat.com](https://useupbeat.com) and confirm your email. Your account is ready the moment you log in.
***
## Step 2 — Build your Brand Beat
**Time: \~5 minutes**
Your Brand Beat is the foundation everything else runs on. Beat will ask you a few questions about your business, your audience, and how you sound. When you're done, it generates your full brand profile: positioning, voice descriptors, messaging pillars, audience definition, and content direction.
Click **Brand** in the left sidebar, or navigate to [/app/brand](https://useupbeat.com/app/brand).
You'll see a prompt to complete your Brand Beat. Click **Set up Brand Beat** to begin.
Beat will ask about your business, who you serve, what makes you different, how you sound, and what you write about. Answer as specifically as you can — the quality of your Brand Beat depends on the detail you put in here. You can always come back and refine later.
After you submit, Beat generates your full Brand Beat. Review each section — positioning, voice, pillars, audience. If something is off, you can edit any field directly on the Brand page.
Don't aim for perfect answers on the first pass. Beat gets smarter as you edit and train it over time. A good-enough Brand Beat today beats a perfect one you never finish.
***
## Step 3 — Connect your apps
**Time: \~5 minutes**
Link your tools so Beat has real data to work with and you can publish from one place. You don't have to connect everything — connect what's most relevant to you right now.
Open [Settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) and scroll to the **Integrations** section.
**High-priority connections:**
| Integration | Why it matters |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| Google Analytics 4 | Powers the Performance dashboard with real traffic data |
| Google Search Console | Powers SEO scores and keyword opportunity analysis |
| WordPress | Lets Beat publish articles directly to your site |
| LinkedIn | Publish posts to your personal profile from the app |
| Slack | Get daily digests and content-ready notifications |
**How to connect an integration:**
In Settings → Integrations, locate the platform you want to connect.
Each card has a **Connect** button that opens the OAuth authorization flow for that platform.
You'll be redirected to the platform (Google, LinkedIn, etc.) to approve access. UPBEAT OS only requests the permissions it needs.
After authorizing, you'll be redirected back to Settings. The card will show a green **Connected** status with your account name.
You can connect integrations at any time from Settings. The app works without them — you just won't have real data flowing into the Performance and Strategy dashboards.
***
## Step 4 — Create your first piece of content
**Time: \~10 minutes**
Open Studio, pick a format, and ship something. Momentum starts here.
Go to [/app/create](https://useupbeat.com/app/create) — Beat's recommendation hub for what to make next. You can also jump straight into a format from the **Studio** group in the sidebar (Article, Email, Social, Lead Magnet, Remix).
The Create page surfaces fresh ideas drawn from your strategy, SEO opportunities, and recent performance — pick one to start with, or bring your own topic.
Choose **Article**, **Email**, **Social**, **Lead Magnet**, or **Remix**. Beat pre-fills the generation form with context from your Brand Beat.
Beat drafts the content in your brand voice. Review it, make any edits, and either publish or save it to your Library.
***
## Step 5 — Train Beat on your voice
**Time: \~3 minutes**
Feed Beat examples of your writing so it sounds like you — not a generic AI. This step makes the biggest difference to output quality over time.
On the Brand page, click the **Training** tab, or go to [/app/brand?tab=training](https://useupbeat.com/app/brand?tab=training).
Paste in 2–3 pieces of writing that represent your voice at its best — a blog post, LinkedIn article, email newsletter, or social post. Label each one:
* **Sounds like me** — This is your voice. Beat should write like this.
* **Okay, not ideal** — You'd publish this but it's not your best work.
* **Anti-reference** — Beat should avoid writing like this.
Click **Save** after adding each sample. Beat learns from these immediately.
2–3 strong "sounds like me" examples are enough to start. Add more over time when Beat's output drifts from your style.
***
## What's next?
Once setup is complete, Mission Control becomes your daily home base. It reads top to bottom — what's happening right now, what to focus on this week, and where you're headed this month.
Your daily starting point — what to work on, what's working, what's next.
Learn how to edit, refine, and maintain your Brand Beat over time.
# Google Analytics 4
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/google-analytics
Connect GA4 to power the Performance dashboard with real traffic data.
Connecting Google Analytics 4 gives UPBEAT OS access to your site's traffic data — page views, sessions, top content, engagement metrics, and trends. This data powers the GA4 insights panel on your Performance dashboard and helps Beat make more informed content recommendations.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, UPBEAT OS pulls your GA4 data daily and surfaces it in the Performance dashboard (`/app/performance`). You'll see traffic trends over the past 30 days, your top-performing pages, session engagement metrics, and how your traffic is trending week-over-week. Beat also uses GA4 data to inform the Strategy page — for example, surfacing content that's driving traffic but not conversions.
## Prerequisites
* A Google Analytics 4 property (not Universal Analytics — if you're still on UA, you'll need to migrate or create a GA4 property first)
* Editor or Administrator access to the GA4 property
* The property must be tracking your website (at least a few days of data helps, but a fresh property works too)
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the Google Analytics section and click **Connect** on the GA4 card.
You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property. Review the requested permissions and click **Allow**.
After authorizing, UPBEAT OS shows a list of GA4 properties associated with your Google account. Select the property for your website.
You'll be returned to the Integrations page. The GA4 card should show a green **Connected** status with your property name.
## What you'll see once connected
After the first data sync (within 24 hours), the Performance dashboard will show:
* Traffic trend chart (past 30 days of page views and sessions)
* Top pages by traffic
* Engagement metrics (average session duration, pages per session)
* Week-over-week traffic comparison
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Google Analytics 4 card, and click **Disconnect**. This removes UPBEAT OS's access to your GA4 data. The Performance dashboard GA4 panel will become empty.
## Troubleshooting
**The property I need isn't showing in the list:** Make sure you're signed into the Google account that has Editor or Administrator access to that GA4 property. If you manage multiple Google accounts, try signing out and back in with the correct one.
**Data is showing but it looks wrong:** Check that you selected the right GA4 property during setup. You can disconnect and reconnect to select a different one.
**No data after 24 hours:** Verify the Connected status is green on the integrations page. If it shows an error, try disconnecting and reconnecting.
# Google Search Console
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/google-search-console
Connect Search Console for keyword rankings and SEO score data.
Google Search Console is the primary data source for UPBEAT OS's SEO features. Connecting GSC unlocks your SEO Score, keyword ranking data, click-through rates, impressions, and the topic cluster analysis that drives Beat's content recommendations.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, UPBEAT OS pulls your GSC data daily and uses it to:
* Calculate your **SEO Score** (the hero metric on the Performance dashboard)
* Populate **keyword rankings** — which terms your pages rank for and at what position
* Show **CTR and impressions** data so you can identify high-impression, low-click pages
* Build and score your **topic clusters** based on what you actually rank for vs. where you have gaps
* Surface **Quick Wins** — keywords where a fresh article could push you from page 2 to page 1
Without GSC connected, the SEO Score and keyword data panels are unavailable.
## Prerequisites
* A Google Search Console account with your website verified
* Owner or Full User access to the GSC property
* Your website must have at least some indexed pages (GSC data appears after Google has crawled and indexed your site)
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the Google Search Console section and click **Connect**.
You'll be redirected to Google's OAuth consent screen. Sign in with the Google account that owns or has Full User access to your GSC property. Click **Allow** on the permissions screen.
UPBEAT OS shows a list of GSC properties on your account. Select the property for your website. Properties are listed as either domain properties (e.g., `sc-domain:yourdomain.com`) or URL-prefix properties (e.g., `https://yourdomain.com/`).
You'll be returned to the Integrations page. The GSC card should show a green **Connected** status.
## What you'll see once connected
After the first data sync (within 24 hours):
* Your **SEO Score** appears as the hero metric on the Performance dashboard
* **Keyword rankings** show which queries are driving impressions and clicks
* **Topic clusters** are populated and scored based on your actual search data
* Beat's **Quick Wins** section identifies keywords with the fastest improvement potential
* The Strategy page gains additional specificity in its content recommendations
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Google Search Console card, and click **Disconnect**. Your SEO Score and keyword data will become unavailable until you reconnect.
## Troubleshooting
**My website isn't showing in the property list:** Your Google account may not have access to that GSC property. Check that you're logged into the right Google account, or ask the property owner to add you as a Full User in GSC settings.
**SEO Score is 0 after connecting:** If your website is new or has very few indexed pages, GSC may have limited data to work with. The score will improve as more pages get indexed and accumulate impression data. Check back after 1–2 weeks.
**Data stopped updating:** Disconnect and reconnect GSC to refresh the authorization. If the issue persists, contact [help@useupbeat.com](mailto:help@useupbeat.com).
# Klaviyo
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/klaviyo
Connect Klaviyo to push email sequences as broadcast drafts. Coming soon.
The Klaviyo integration is currently labeled **Coming soon** on the Settings page. Connect plumbing exists but the full push-to-Klaviyo flow hasn't shipped yet — you won't see **Push to Klaviyo** controls in the email editor until the feature lands.
Once shipped, connecting Klaviyo will let you push email sequences and one-off emails from UPBEAT OS directly into your Klaviyo account as broadcast drafts. Beat writes the copy; you review and send from Klaviyo. The KPI strip on the Email page will also pull your open rate, click rate, and subscriber count from Klaviyo.
## What this integration enables
Once connected:
* **Email sequences** you build in UPBEAT OS can be pushed to Klaviyo as broadcast drafts — one draft per sequence step
* **One-off emails** can be pushed to Klaviyo as a broadcast draft
* **KPI metrics** (open rate, click rate, subscriber count) appear on the Email page at `/app/email`
* Beat's email recommendations take your Klaviyo performance data into account
UPBEAT OS pushes drafts to Klaviyo — it does not configure Klaviyo flows or automation. You'll set up the flow logic, triggers, and sending schedule in Klaviyo after receiving the drafts.
## Prerequisites
* An active Klaviyo account
* A Klaviyo Private API key with the following permissions: Accounts (read), Campaigns (read/write), Lists (read)
## How to connect
In Klaviyo, go to **Account → Settings → API Keys** and click **Create Private API Key**. Name it "UPBEAT OS" and set the permissions: Accounts (read), Campaigns (full access), Lists (read). Copy the key — you'll only see it once.
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the Klaviyo section and click **Connect**.
Paste your Klaviyo Private API key into the field and click **Connect**.
The Klaviyo card should show a green **Connected** status with your Klaviyo account name.
## What you'll see once connected
* A **Push to Klaviyo** button appears on email sequences and individual emails
* The KPI strip on `/app/email` shows your open rate, click rate, and subscriber count (updated daily)
* When you push a sequence, one broadcast draft per step appears in Klaviyo under Campaigns → Drafts
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Klaviyo card, and click **Disconnect**. The Push to Klaviyo option will disappear from the email editor. Previously pushed drafts remain in your Klaviyo account.
## Troubleshooting
**"Invalid API key" error:** Double-check that you copied the full key from Klaviyo. Make sure you used a Private API key (not Public). Also confirm the key has Campaigns (full access) permission — read-only isn't sufficient to create drafts.
**KPI data isn't showing:** After connecting, KPI data takes up to 24 hours to appear. If it's still empty after 24 hours, disconnect and reconnect Klaviyo.
**Drafts aren't appearing in Klaviyo after pushing:** Check Campaigns → Drafts in Klaviyo (not Campaigns → Sent). Drafts won't appear under active campaigns. If they're not in Drafts either, check that your API key has Campaigns write access.
# LinkedIn
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/linkedin
Connect LinkedIn to publish posts directly from UPBEAT OS.
Connecting LinkedIn lets you publish posts from the UPBEAT OS social composer directly to your personal LinkedIn profile — immediately or scheduled for later. Beat writes LinkedIn-native content optimized for the platform's format and character limits.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, you can:
* **Publish LinkedIn posts** directly from the social composer at `/app/community`
* **Schedule posts** to go live at a specific date and time
* **Include links** in posts (Beat formats these to work within LinkedIn's link preview behavior)
* View all scheduled LinkedIn posts in your Publishing queue at `/app/publishing`
UPBEAT OS publishes to your **personal LinkedIn profile**. LinkedIn Company Page publishing is not currently supported.
## Prerequisites
* A personal LinkedIn account
* Your LinkedIn profile must be in good standing (no restrictions)
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the LinkedIn section and click **Connect**.
You'll be redirected to LinkedIn's OAuth authorization screen. Sign in with your LinkedIn credentials if prompted. Review the permissions UPBEAT OS is requesting and click **Allow**.
You'll be returned to the Integrations page. The LinkedIn card should show a green **Connected** status with your profile name.
## What you'll see once connected
* LinkedIn appears as a publishing destination in the social composer (`/app/community`)
* Beat's social post generation includes LinkedIn-specific formatting (hook lines, paragraph breaks, optimal length)
* Scheduled LinkedIn posts appear in your Publishing queue
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the LinkedIn card, and click **Disconnect**. UPBEAT OS will no longer be able to publish to your LinkedIn profile. Posts already scheduled will fail to publish after disconnection.
## Troubleshooting
**Post failed to publish:** LinkedIn access tokens expire periodically. If a post fails, disconnect and reconnect your LinkedIn account to refresh the token, then republish.
**I'm not seeing my LinkedIn profile in the composer:** Confirm the LinkedIn card shows a green Connected status in Integrations. If it shows yellow or red, reconnect.
**LinkedIn changed my post formatting:** LinkedIn applies its own rendering rules to post text. Long paragraphs may be truncated with a "...see more" cutoff. Beat formats posts to work within LinkedIn's display constraints, but if a specific post is getting cut off, shorten it before publishing.
# Facebook, Instagram & Threads
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/meta
Connect Meta to publish to Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
Connecting Meta gives UPBEAT OS access to publish on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads through a single OAuth flow. All three platforms use the Meta Graph API and connect through one authorization step.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, you can:
* **Publish Facebook Page posts** directly from the social composer
* **Publish Instagram posts** (single images and carousels)
* **Publish Threads posts** (text-based posts)
* **Schedule posts** across all three platforms
* Cross-post content to multiple platforms in one step from the social composer
## Prerequisites
* A Facebook account with **Admin access** to a Facebook Page
* An Instagram Professional account (Business or Creator) connected to your Facebook Page
* A Threads account connected to your Instagram account (for Threads publishing)
* Your Facebook Page must be published (not in unpublished/draft status)
Publishing to a personal Facebook profile is not supported by the Meta API. You must have a Facebook Page.
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
The Meta card covers Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Click **Connect**.
You'll be redirected to Facebook's OAuth screen. Sign in with the Facebook account that has Admin access to your Page. Review the permissions UPBEAT OS is requesting — these cover posting to your Page, Instagram, and Threads.
After authorizing, select which Facebook Page you want to connect to UPBEAT OS. If you manage multiple Pages, choose the one you want to publish from.
You'll be returned to the Integrations page. The Meta card should show a green **Connected** status and display which Page, Instagram account, and Threads profile are linked.
## What you'll see once connected
* Facebook, Instagram, and Threads appear as publishing destinations in the social composer (`/app/community`)
* You can cross-post to all three from a single compose session
* Scheduled posts for all three platforms appear in your Publishing queue at `/app/publishing`
## Platform-specific notes
**Facebook:** Posts can include text and links. Beat formats Facebook posts to work with the platform's link preview behavior — when you include a URL, Facebook generates a preview card automatically.
**Instagram:** Requires at least one image. Beat can generate a post caption optimized for Instagram's format and hashtag conventions. The image must be uploaded or hosted at a publicly accessible URL.
**Threads:** Text-only posts up to 500 characters. Beat formats Threads posts accordingly.
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Meta card, and click **Disconnect**. This revokes access for all three platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) simultaneously.
## Troubleshooting
**I don't see my Instagram account:** Make sure your Instagram account is set to Professional (Business or Creator) in Instagram settings, and that it's linked to your Facebook Page in the Page settings.
**Post published to Facebook but not Instagram:** Instagram publishing requires an image. If your post was text-only, it was routed to Facebook but skipped for Instagram. Add an image and repost for Instagram.
**Meta token expired:** Meta access tokens expire every 60 days. If posts start failing, disconnect and reconnect your Meta account to refresh the token.
# Resend
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/resend
Connect Resend for custom email sending with DKIM/SPF authentication.
Bring Your Own Resend (BYO Resend) is the recommended option for sending emails from your own domain with proper authentication. Once connected, emails from UPBEAT OS go out through your Resend account using your verified domain — giving you the best deliverability and keeping your brand identity consistent. The alternative is the **UPBEAT shared sender**, which works out of the box but uses a shared sending domain.
## What this integration enables
Once connected:
* You can send emails from a custom address on your domain (e.g., `hello@yourdomain.com`)
* DKIM and SPF authentication are in place, which significantly improves inbox placement vs. unauthenticated sending
* Email sequences and one-off emails from UPBEAT OS route through Resend for delivery
* Your From name and address appear in recipients' inboxes exactly as you configure them
## Prerequisites
* A [Resend account](https://resend.com) (free tier available)
* A domain you own and can add DNS records to
* Access to your domain's DNS settings (through your registrar: Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, etc.)
## How to connect
If you don't have one, sign up at [resend.com](https://resend.com). The free tier includes 3,000 emails per month.
In the Resend dashboard, go to **Domains** → **Add Domain**. Enter your domain name. Resend will give you two DNS records to add: a DKIM TXT record and an SPF TXT record. Add both to your domain's DNS settings.
DNS propagation typically takes a few minutes to a few hours, but can take up to 48 hours in rare cases. Once both records show as Verified in Resend, your domain is ready.
In Resend, go to **API Keys** and click **Create API Key**. Name it "UPBEAT OS" and set the permission to **Sending access**. Copy the key.
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings).
Scroll to the Resend section and click **Connect**.
Paste your Resend API key and click **Connect**.
The Resend card should show a green **Connected** status.
Go to the Email sender section of Settings. Enter your From name and From address (must be an address on your verified Resend domain). Select Resend as your sending route. Save.
## What you'll see once connected
* Emails generated in UPBEAT OS can be sent via Resend when you initiate the send
* Your configured From name and address appear on all outgoing emails
* Resend's dashboard shows delivery status, open rates (if tracking is enabled), and bounces
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Resend card, and click **Disconnect**. UPBEAT OS will stop routing emails through Resend. Switch your sending route to Gmail or Klaviyo in the Email sender section of Settings to continue sending.
## Troubleshooting
**Domain not verifying in Resend:** DNS changes can be slow. Wait at least an hour and check again. Use a DNS checker tool (like [dnschecker.org](https://dnschecker.org)) to see if your TXT records have propagated. Make sure you added records to the root domain, not a subdomain.
**"Invalid API key" error in UPBEAT OS:** Double-check you copied the full key from Resend and that it has Sending access (not read-only). Resend API keys start with `re_`.
**Emails landing in spam:** Check that both DKIM and SPF show as Verified in Resend's domain settings. If they're verified but emails are still going to spam, make sure your From address matches your verified domain (not a different domain).
# Slack
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/slack
Connect Slack to receive daily digests and Beat notifications.
Connecting Slack brings UPBEAT OS activity into your workspace. Beat sends daily performance digests, notifies you when Autopilot generates new drafts, and pings you when content-related actions need your attention — all in a channel of your choosing.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, you'll receive Slack notifications for:
* **Daily digest** — A morning summary of your content activity, upcoming scheduled posts, and any strategy highlights
* **Autopilot drafts** — A notification whenever Beat Autopilot generates a new draft, with the article title and a link to review it
* **Content alerts** — Notifications when something in your content pipeline needs attention (e.g., scheduled posts with issues, drafts that have been sitting for a while)
You stay in UPBEAT OS for all the actual work — Slack is where you get the heads-up.
## Prerequisites
* A Slack workspace where you have permission to add apps (you don't need to be an admin, but some workspaces restrict app installs to admins only)
* A channel where you want Beat to post (a private channel like `#beat-updates` works great)
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the Slack section and click **Connect**.
You'll be redirected to Slack's OAuth screen. Select the workspace you want to connect (if you're in multiple workspaces), review the requested permissions, and click **Allow**.
After authorizing, choose the Slack channel where Beat should post notifications. You can select any channel you're a member of.
You'll be returned to the Integrations page. The Slack card should show a green **Connected** status with your workspace name and selected channel.
## What you'll see once connected
* A confirmation message appears in your selected Slack channel shortly after connecting
* Daily digests arrive on weekday mornings with your content summary
* Autopilot draft notifications land in the channel as soon as Beat finishes generating a draft
* Each notification includes a direct link back to the relevant page in UPBEAT OS
## Configuring notification preferences
Go to Settings → Notifications to control which types of Slack notifications you receive and at what frequency. You can disable specific notification types without disconnecting Slack entirely.
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the Slack card, and click **Disconnect**. Notifications will stop immediately. Your Slack workspace is unaffected — UPBEAT OS is just removed as an app.
## Troubleshooting
**Beat isn't posting in my channel:** Make sure Beat has been added to the channel. In Slack, open the channel, click the channel name, go to Integrations → Apps, and confirm UPBEAT OS is listed. If not, add it.
**I'm not getting daily digests:** Check Settings → Notifications to confirm digests are enabled. Digests are sent on weekdays only — there are no weekend digests.
**Notifications are going to the wrong channel:** Disconnect and reconnect Slack to select a different channel.
# WordPress
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/integrations/wordpress
Connect WordPress to publish and schedule articles directly from UPBEAT OS.
Connecting WordPress lets you publish articles from the UPBEAT OS article editor directly to your WordPress site — immediately or on a schedule. No copy-paste, no reformatting. The article lands on your site exactly as you wrote it.
## What this integration enables
Once connected, you can:
* **Publish articles** directly from the article editor at `/app/articles/write`
* **Schedule posts** to go live at a specific date and time
* **Select a post status** (Draft, Pending Review, or Published) so you can send to WordPress even if you want someone to review it there first
* View published articles in your Content Planner's Published column with a link to the live post
## Prerequisites
* A self-hosted WordPress site (WordPress.com is not supported)
* An account on your WordPress site with Author, Editor, or Administrator role
* The WordPress REST API must be enabled (it is by default on all modern WordPress installations)
## How to connect
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) in UPBEAT OS.
Scroll to the WordPress section and click **Connect**.
Type your website's full URL, including `https://` — for example, `https://yourdomain.com`. Don't include a trailing slash or a specific page path.
You'll be asked for a username and an **Application Password** (not your regular login password). To create an Application Password in WordPress:
1. Log into your WordPress admin
2. Go to Users → Your Profile
3. Scroll to the **Application Passwords** section
4. Enter a name (e.g., "UPBEAT OS") and click **Add New Application Password**
5. Copy the generated password — you won't be able to see it again
Paste the Application Password into UPBEAT OS and click Connect. The WordPress card should show a green **Connected** status with your site URL.
## What you'll see once connected
A **Publish to WordPress** option becomes available in the article editor sidebar. When you publish:
* The article title becomes the post title
* The article body is sent as the post content (HTML)
* Your meta description (if set) is used as the SEO meta description (requires a compatible SEO plugin like Yoast or RankMath on your WordPress site)
* You choose whether to publish immediately or schedule for a specific date and time
## How to disconnect
Open Settings and scroll to **Integrations**, find the WordPress card, and click **Disconnect**. The publish option will no longer appear in the article editor. Your previously published articles remain live on your WordPress site.
## Troubleshooting
**"Connection failed" error:** Double-check that your WordPress URL is correct and includes `https://`. Verify that you used an Application Password, not your regular WordPress login password. If your site has a security plugin (like Wordfence), it may be blocking the API request — check your plugin's firewall settings.
**Articles appear but formatting looks off:** WordPress may be stripping some HTML formatting. Check your WordPress theme's content rendering settings, or try disabling any "content filtering" features in your active plugins.
**Can't find the Application Passwords section:** Application Passwords require WordPress 5.6 or later. Update WordPress if you're on an older version. Some security plugins also disable this feature — check your plugin settings.
# Performance Overview
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/performance/overview
Track your SEO score, traffic, and keyword opportunities in the Performance dashboard.
The Performance dashboard at `/app/performance` gives you a unified view of your SEO health, search rankings, and traffic data. It's where you see how your content is performing in the real world and where Beat surfaces your biggest growth opportunities.
The Performance dashboard requires a **Starter or Pro plan** and at least one data source connected — Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for traffic data, Google Search Console (GSC) for SEO and keyword data, or both. If the dashboard is empty, go to the Integrations section of Settings to connect them.
## What the Performance dashboard shows
### SEO Score
The hero metric at the top of the page. Your SEO Score is a 0–100 measure of your site's overall search optimization health, powered by data from Google Search Console. A rising score means your content strategy is working.
See the [SEO Score guide](/performance/seo-score) for a detailed breakdown of what factors go into the score and how to improve it.
### Topic clusters grid
Below the SEO Score, you'll see your content organized into topic clusters. Each cluster groups related keywords and content pieces around one of your content pillars.
Each cluster card shows:
* Cluster name and content pillar
* Number of pieces published in that cluster
* Opportunity score (how much traffic potential remains)
* Status indicators (Drafting / In Progress / Live)
Clusters with a high opportunity score and few published pieces are your biggest wins. Beat's Recommended Moves on the Strategy page will often point here.
### GA4 insights
If GA4 is connected, the bottom section shows:
* **Traffic trends** — Page views and sessions over the past 30 days
* **Top pages** — Your highest-traffic content and what's driving the most visits
* **Engagement metrics** — Average session duration, pages per session, bounce rate
Use GA4 data to see which content is actually driving traffic, not just what ranks.
### GSC insights
If GSC is connected, you'll also see:
* **Keyword rankings** — Where your pages rank in Google search results
* **Click-through rate (CTR)** — How often people click your listing when they see it
* **Impressions** — How many times your content appeared in search results
* **Search queries** — The specific keywords people are using to find your content
High impressions + low CTR means you rank for a keyword but your title or meta description isn't compelling enough. That's a quick win — update the headline and meta on that page.
### In-flight draft status
When a topic cluster shows a "Drafting" badge, it means Beat's autopilot (or you) has a draft in progress for that cluster. This helps you avoid creating duplicate content and shows which gaps are already being addressed.
## How often data refreshes
| Data source | Refresh frequency |
| --------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| Google Analytics 4 | Daily |
| Google Search Console | Daily |
| SEO Score calculation | Daily |
| Topic clusters | Daily (based on published content) |
Data typically reflects the previous day. Real-time data is not available.
## What to do if the dashboard is empty
If you see empty panels or a message saying data isn't available:
1. **Check your integrations** — Go to the Integrations section of Settings and confirm both GA4 and GSC show a green "Connected" status.
2. **Wait for first sync** — After connecting, it takes 24 hours for the first data pull to complete.
3. **Verify your plan** — The Performance dashboard is only available on Starter and Pro.
If everything looks connected but data still isn't showing after 48 hours, email [help@useupbeat.com](mailto:help@useupbeat.com).

# SEO Score
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/performance/seo-score
How your SEO Score is calculated and what moves the needle.
Your SEO Score is a 0–100 metric that measures the overall health of your content marketing as a search engine optimization engine. It's calculated daily using data from Google Search Console and your content library in UPBEAT OS.
## What the score measures
The SEO Score is not a technical SEO audit. It doesn't check for broken links, page speed, or schema markup. It measures the strength of your **content-driven SEO strategy** — specifically, how well your content is positioned to build search authority over time.
## Score ranges
| Score | What it means |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **0–40** | Early stage. Limited content, thin topic coverage, or GSC just connected. Focus on creating foundational content in your top pillar. |
| **41–70** | Building momentum. You have content on the ground but gaps remain in your topic clusters. Consistent publishing will move this score. |
| **71–100** | Strong position. Deep coverage in your key topic clusters with good click-through rates. Focus shifts to maintaining freshness and expanding to new clusters. |
## What factors go into the score
| Factor | What Beat measures |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Keyword coverage** | How many keywords in your topic clusters have at least one ranking piece |
| **Content freshness** | Recency of published content across your active clusters |
| **Click-through rate** | Your average CTR from GSC across all tracked keywords |
| **Topic cluster depth** | Average number of pieces per cluster — depth signals authority to Google |
| **Impressions trend** | Whether your total impressions are growing week-over-week |
Beat weights these factors and produces a composite score. No single factor dominates — the score reflects the overall health of your content SEO.
## Topic clusters and your score
Topic clusters are the main lever for improving your SEO Score. A cluster is a group of related keywords and pieces of content organized around one of your content pillars.
Beat categorizes content opportunities within each cluster as:
| Category | What it means |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Quick wins** | Keywords where you rank on page 2–3 with moderate impressions. A targeted article could push you to page 1. |
| **Opportunities** | Keywords with high search volume where you don't yet have content. High potential, requires effort. |
| **Gaps** | Topics your competitors cover that you haven't touched. Content here can win audience share from established players. |
## How to improve your score
**1. Complete partial clusters before starting new ones.** Google rewards depth. Two well-developed clusters outperform five shallow ones. Check which cluster has the most Quick Win opportunities and fill those gaps first.
**2. Target low-competition keywords.** If Beat flags a keyword as a Quick Win, that means you're already in the ballpark in search results. A fresh, well-targeted article can push you from page 2 to page 1 faster than starting from scratch on a new keyword.
**3. Keep content fresh.** Publishing frequency signals to Google that your site is active. Even if you can't publish new content, updating old articles (adding new sections, refreshing examples, updating data) counts toward content freshness.
**4. Improve CTR on high-impression, low-click pages.** If GSC shows a page with high impressions but low CTR (under 2%), rewriting the headline and meta description for that page can produce a significant traffic bump without creating any new content.
Focus on completing one topic cluster before starting another. Depth beats breadth when it comes to building SEO authority. A cluster with 5–8 pieces covering different angles of the same topic drives compounding results faster than 5 isolated articles on 5 different topics.
## How often the score updates
Your SEO Score recalculates daily, using the previous day's GSC data. Score changes are typically gradual — don't expect a jump overnight after publishing one article. Real improvements show up over 2–4 weeks as Google indexes and ranks new content.

# Beat Autopilot
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/publishing/autopilot
Set Beat to automatically draft content on a schedule.
Beat Autopilot is a background drafting engine. Enable it, configure your schedule, and Beat will generate article drafts on the days you've chosen — no prompting required. You review every draft before anything goes live.
## The most important thing to know
**Autopilot drafts. It never publishes.**
Every piece of content Autopilot generates lands in your Content Planner → Drafting column and waits for your review. Nothing goes live without your explicit approval. You stay in control of what publishes and when.
## How to enable Autopilot
Navigate to [/app/settings](https://useupbeat.com/app/settings) and click **Beat autopilot** in the section list.
Flip the Autopilot switch to the enabled position.
Pick which of the three available days you want Beat to draft content. Pro picks any combination of **Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday** — up to 3 days per week.
Click Save. Autopilot will run on its next scheduled day.
Autopilot is a **Pro-only** feature. Free and Starter accounts can't enable it. Pro picks up to 3 days per week from Mon / Wed / Fri.
## Configuring your days
Pick the day(s) that align with your content calendar. A common pattern is Monday only — you start your week with a fresh draft to review. Picking all three (Mon / Wed / Fri) keeps a steady flow of drafts coming through without overwhelming your review queue.
## What gets drafted
On each Autopilot run, Beat drafts one article. It picks the topic by analyzing:
* Which content pillar is most underserved right now
* Open keyword opportunities from your SEO data (if GSC is connected)
* Your content calendar (Beat avoids topics you've recently covered)
* Your Brand Beat pillars, audience, and publishing frequency target
You don't set the topic manually — Beat selects it based on what will have the most strategic impact. If you want control over the topic, create content manually from Content Studio instead.
## Where drafts appear
When Autopilot runs, the new draft appears in:
* **Content Planner** at `/app/content` → **Drafting** column
* **Slack** (if you have Slack connected) — Beat sends a notification with the article title and a link to review it
Check your Content Planner on the days after your scheduled Autopilot days to review new drafts.
## How to review and approve an auto-draft
Go to `/app/content` and find the draft in the Drafting column. Click to open it in the article editor.
Read through the draft. Edit anything that needs to change — headline, sections, specific facts, or tone. Use Beat in the editor sidebar if you want help revising sections.
When you're happy with the draft, change its status to Approved using the status picker in the editor sidebar.
When you're ready to publish, click Publish and choose your destination (WordPress, save to pipeline, etc.).
## Turning Autopilot off
Go to Settings, scroll to the **Beat autopilot** section, and toggle Autopilot off. Beat will stop drafting on its next scheduled run. Any drafts already in your pipeline remain — turning off Autopilot doesn't delete anything.
## What's next?
Manage your auto-drafted content through review and approval stages.
Get notified in Slack when Autopilot generates a new draft.
# Publishing
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/publishing/overview
Publish and schedule content across WordPress, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
UPBEAT OS publishes through a few different surfaces depending on the format. There's no single "Publishing" sidebar entry — instead, articles publish from the article editor, social posts publish from the Social composer, and you can review every scheduled item from the Library.
A standalone publishing queue page exists at [/app/publishing](https://useupbeat.com/app/publishing) and surfaces every scheduled item across platforms. It's not in the main sidebar today — you can reach it from this URL or from the publishing controls on individual content pieces.
## Supported platforms
| Platform | Content type | How it connects |
| ------------- | ---------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| **WordPress** | Articles / blog posts | API key or application password |
| **LinkedIn** | Text posts, link posts | OAuth |
| **Facebook** | Page posts | Meta OAuth |
| **Instagram** | Image posts, carousels | Meta OAuth |
| **Threads** | Text posts | Meta OAuth |
All platforms must be connected from the Integrations section of Settings before you can publish to them. See the relevant integration guide for setup steps.
## Publishing immediately vs scheduling
When you're ready to publish a piece of content, you choose to:
* **Publish now** — Content goes live immediately on the selected platform
* **Schedule** — Choose a date and time; the content publishes automatically at that moment
Scheduling is available for all supported platforms. Scheduled content appears in your publish queue until it goes live.
## How the publish queue works
The publish queue shows all your scheduled content in chronological order across all platforms. From the queue you can:
* See what's publishing when and on which platform
* Edit the scheduled date/time
* Cancel a scheduled post
* Publish something early if you decide not to wait
The queue updates in real time. If you reschedule a post in the Content Planner's calendar view, the change is reflected in the publish queue automatically.
## Platform requirements
Before you can publish to a platform, you need:
* The platform connected (the Integrations section of Settings)
* For WordPress: a URL and credentials
* For LinkedIn: a personal LinkedIn account
* For Facebook/Instagram/Threads: a Meta account with admin access to the page or profile
## Publishing from the article editor
For articles destined for WordPress, you can publish directly from the editor:
1. Finish writing and reviewing your article.
2. Click **Publish** in the editor sidebar.
3. Select **WordPress** as the destination.
4. Choose publish immediately or schedule for a specific date and time.
5. Confirm.
The article syncs to WordPress. If you've scheduled it, it appears in the publish queue until the scheduled time.
## Publishing from the social composer
Social posts (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Threads) are created and published from the social composer at `/app/community`. You can compose a post, preview how it will look on each platform, and publish immediately or schedule it.
From the social composer, you can also cross-post to multiple platforms at once — write once, select multiple destinations.
## The cadence system
Beat tracks how many times you've published to each platform recently and surfaces a warning if you're about to over-schedule. If you're queuing 5 LinkedIn posts in one day but your cadence target is 3 per week, Beat will flag the mismatch.
This isn't a hard block — you can override it — but it's a useful guard against accidentally flooding your audience's feed or damaging platform reach with uncharacteristic publishing spikes.
## What's next?
Set Beat to auto-draft content on a schedule so your pipeline stays full.
Manage content through stages before it hits the publish queue.
# FAQ
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/reference/faq
Common questions about UPBEAT Growth OS.
Quick answers to the questions we hear most often.
The most common reason is that Beat doesn't have enough writing samples to learn your voice. Go to **Brand Beat → Training** and add 2–3 pieces of your own writing labeled "Sounds like me." These should be real content you've published — a blog post, LinkedIn article, or email newsletter.
If you've already added training samples and output still feels off, check your voice descriptors in **Brand Beat → Identity & Voice**. Generic descriptors like "professional" or "friendly" don't give Beat much to work with. Replace them with specific, characteristic phrases that capture how you actually sound.
The Performance dashboard requires two things:
1. A **Starter or Pro plan** — it's not available on the Free tier
2. At least one data source connected — **Google Analytics 4** for traffic data, **Google Search Console** for SEO data, or both
If you're on a paid plan but the dashboard is empty, go to **the Integrations section of Settings** and connect GA4 and/or GSC. After connecting, allow up to 24 hours for the first data sync to complete.
No. Beat Autopilot automatically **drafts** content on your configured schedule — it never publishes anything without your explicit action.
Every auto-draft lands in your **Content Planner → Drafting column**, where it waits for your review. You review the draft, make any edits you want, then publish it yourself when you're ready. Nothing goes live without you initiating it.
It depends on what you're changing:
* **For small tweaks** — Click directly into any field on the relevant Brand Beat tab and edit it inline. Manual edits save immediately and do **not** create a new version. Your current profile stays intact.
* **For a full refresh** — Click **Regenerate** on the Brand Beat Overview tab. Regeneration automatically saves your current profile as a version before replacing it, so you can always go back. See **Brand Beat → Version History** to restore a previous version.
In short: edit directly for small changes; regenerate when you want Beat to take a fresh pass at everything.
Check these three things in order:
1. **Autopilot is enabled** — Open Settings, scroll to **Beat autopilot**, and confirm the toggle is on.
2. **Today is a scheduled day** — Autopilot only runs on Monday, Wednesday, and/or Friday. Confirm the day that didn't draft is selected in your Autopilot day schedule.
3. **Your plan supports Autopilot** — Autopilot is **Pro-only**. Free and Starter accounts can't enable it.
If all three check out and drafts still aren't appearing, email [help@useupbeat.com](mailto:help@useupbeat.com) with your account email.
Try these steps:
1. **Check your URL format** — Your WordPress URL must include `https://` and should be your root domain (e.g., `https://yourdomain.com`, not `https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin`).
2. **Verify your credentials** — Make sure you're using an **Application Password** (created in WordPress → Users → Your Profile → Application Passwords), not your regular login password.
3. **Check the integration card** — Go to **the Integrations section of Settings** and confirm the WordPress card shows a green **Connected** status. If it shows an error, disconnect and reconnect.
4. **Check your security plugins** — Plugins like Wordfence or iThemes Security sometimes block REST API requests. Temporarily disable them to test, then whitelist UPBEAT OS in the plugin settings.
Open Settings, scroll to **Subscription**, and click **Manage billing**. Stripe's hosted billing portal opens with options to cancel, change plan, update your payment method, or download invoices. After you cancel, your account stays active and on the paid plan until the end of your current billing period — you won't be charged again.
After your billing period ends, your account moves to the Free tier. Your Brand Beat, content, and settings are preserved; you just lose access to paid-only features.
Yes — UPBEAT OS is a web app and works in mobile browsers on iOS and Android. There's no native app yet.
The experience is best on desktop for content creation and editing. The mobile browser experience works well for reviewing dashboards, checking your pipeline, and reading Beat's recommendations. For writing long articles, a larger screen will make a big difference.
Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from UPBEAT OS: your Brand Beat, all generated and saved content, email sequences, contacts, and settings. **This cannot be undone.**
Before deleting, export anything you want to keep:
* Copy your Brand Beat fields (there's no bulk export yet — copy each tab manually)
* Export articles from the article editor
* Download your contact list from `/app/contacts`
To delete your account, go to **the Danger zone section of Settings → Delete Account**.
Your strategy report updates automatically **every Monday morning**. Beat pulls the latest performance data (GA4, GSC), reviews your content activity from the previous week, and generates a fresh report with new Recommended Moves and Stop/Start/Continue analysis.
You can also refresh your strategy manually at any time — go to `/app/strategy` and click the **Refresh** button. Manual refreshes are useful after you've made a significant change to your Brand Beat or completed a content push and want updated recommendations immediately.
Each UPBEAT OS account has one Brand Beat profile. If you manage multiple brands, you'd need a separate account for each one.
Multi-brand support within a single account is on the roadmap. When it's available, you'll be able to switch between brand profiles without switching accounts.
Two options today:
* **UPBEAT shared sender** — Default and zero-config. Good for getting started, low-volume sends, or if you don't yet own a domain you want to send from. Recipients see UPBEAT's shared sending domain.
* **Bring Your Own Resend** — Connect your own Resend account, verify your domain, and every send routes through it with proper DKIM/SPF. Best deliverability and the right call for anyone sending at volume or building a serious email channel.
A Klaviyo integration is on the roadmap (currently labeled Coming Soon in Settings) — when it ships, you'll be able to push UPBEAT-generated emails into Klaviyo as broadcast drafts.

# Glossary
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/reference/glossary
Plain-English definitions for UPBEAT Growth OS terms.
A quick reference for terms used throughout UPBEAT Growth OS.
***
**Anti-reference**
A writing sample in Brand Beat's Training tab that shows Beat what NOT to sound like. Use anti-references for generic AI output, competitor styles you dislike, or any writing pattern you want Beat to actively avoid. The more specific your anti-references, the better Beat gets at steering clear of those patterns.
***
**Auto-draft**
A piece of content Beat generates automatically during a scheduled Autopilot run. Auto-drafts land in your Content Planner → Drafting column and require your review before anything is published. Beat never publishes auto-drafts automatically.
***
**Beat**
The AI agent inside UPBEAT Growth OS that powers all strategy, content, and brand assistance. There's one agent — Beat. Beat reads your Brand Beat, understands your strategy, and adapts its behavior based on which page of the app you're working on.
***
**Beat Autopilot**
The feature that schedules Beat to automatically draft articles on configured days of the week. Autopilot drafts content — it does not publish. **Pro-only**: Pro picks up to 3 days per week from Mon / Wed / Fri. Free and Starter cannot enable Autopilot. Configure it from the Beat autopilot section of Settings.
***
**Brand Beat**
Your complete brand profile — the foundational document that powers every Beat output. Brand Beat contains six tabs (in order): Overview, Identity & Voice, Visual, Pillars & Content, Audience, and Training. The more complete and specific your Brand Beat, the more targeted and on-brand Beat's outputs will be.
***
**Cadence**
Your target publishing frequency — how many pieces of content you want to publish per week. You set your cadence in Brand Beat → Pillars & Content. Beat uses your cadence to calibrate Autopilot, fill the cadence bar in the Content Planner, and pace Strategy recommendations.
***
**Completion score**
A 0–100 score on the Brand Beat Overview tab measuring how complete your brand profile is. Higher scores mean Beat has more signal to work with, which produces more targeted and accurate outputs. Improve your score by filling in empty or thin fields and adding training samples.
***
**Content pillar**
One of your 3–5 core topic areas that all of your content orbits around. Content pillars give your strategy coherence — instead of writing about whatever feels timely, your content consistently builds authority in a focused set of areas. Beat uses your pillars to generate content ideas, organize SEO topic clusters, and structure Strategy recommendations.
***
**Decision engine**
The smart format-picker in Content Studio (`/app/create`) that shows Beat's top recommended next actions. Instead of starting with a blank slate, the decision engine shows "Do This Next" cards — specific content recommendations based on your pillars, strategy, and content gaps. Click any card to jump directly into creating that piece.
***
**Growth Flywheel**
Beat's visualization of your content marketing loop in the Strategy section. The flywheel shows: Content → Discovery → Audience → Leads → Sales → Authority → Content. Beat identifies which stage is strongest and where there's friction — so you know exactly where to focus to accelerate growth.
***
**Growth Score**
A composite metric shown on Mission Control (`/app/mission-control`) that measures your overall content marketing momentum. The score combines content output, SEO performance, audience growth, and engagement signals. It's a directional health indicator, not a single-source metric.
***
**ICP (Ideal Customer Profile)**
The specific type of person your content is written for and your product or service is built to serve. Defined in Brand Beat → Audience, your ICP includes demographics, psychographics, pain points, goals, and buying triggers. Every piece of Beat-generated content is written to this person.
***
**Mission Control**
The main dashboard at `/app/mission-control` — your daily starting point in UPBEAT OS. Mission Control reads top to bottom: what's happening right now, what to focus on this week, and where you're headed this month.
***
**Proposed change**
A before/after card that Beat returns when it suggests an edit to your brand profile or content. Instead of overwriting your text directly, Beat shows you the original and its suggestion side by side. You Apply the change (saves it) or Dismiss it (keeps the original). Fields remain editable after applying.
***
**SEO Score**
A 0–100 measure of your site's search optimization health, shown on the Performance dashboard. Powered by Google Search Console data. The score reflects keyword coverage, content freshness, click-through rate, and topic cluster depth. Requires Starter or Pro and GSC connected.
***
**Sequence**
A multi-step email series Beat writes for you — welcome flows, nurture tracks, onboarding drips. Beat drafts each step; you configure the delays and send each step manually through your configured sender (UPBEAT shared or BYO Resend). Free accounts can't generate emails; Starter gets 50 emails/month; Pro is unlimited.
***
**Topic cluster**
A group of related keywords and content pieces that Beat organizes around one of your content pillars. Building depth in a topic cluster — publishing multiple pieces covering different angles of the same topic — signals expertise to Google and drives compounding SEO results. Beat scores each cluster and surfaces gaps and quick wins on the Performance dashboard.
***
**Training**
Writing samples you add to Brand Beat's Training tab so Beat learns your voice. Each sample is tagged by content type (blog post, email, bio, about page, social post, sales copy, other) and weighted: **This is exactly how I want to sound** (badge: On voice), **This is okay but not ideal** (Okay), or **This is what I DON'T want to sound like** (Anti). Two to three strong "exactly how I want to sound" samples significantly improve Beat's output quality. The single highest-impact setup step after completing the Brand Beat intake.

# Strategy
Source: https://docs.useupbeat.com/strategy/overview
How Beat's weekly strategy report works and how to act on it.
The Strategy page at `/app/strategy` is your weekly strategic briefing. Beat analyzes your brand profile, content performance, keyword data, and competitive landscape to tell you what to focus on, what to stop, and where your growth opportunities are.
## What the Strategy page shows
Reading top to bottom, the Strategy page surfaces:
* **Flywheel Health** — Where you are in the Content → Discovery → Audience → Leads → Sales → Authority loop, and which stage has friction
* **Momentum Tracker** — How activity (publishing, engagement, traffic) has shifted over the past week
* **Weekly Insights** — Beat's specific Recommended Moves for the week ahead, with a direct link to the relevant page
* **Stop / Start / Continue** — Beat's triage of what to drop, what to add, and what to keep doing
* **Agent Findings** — Deeper signals from each agent (brand, SEO, content, performance) — competitive context, content gaps, and patterns Beat has noticed
## When the strategy report updates
Beat refreshes your strategy automatically every Monday morning. The new report reflects the past week's performance data (GA4, GSC) and any changes you've made to your Brand Beat or content.
To refresh manually at any time, click the **Refresh** button at the top of the Strategy page. This runs a fresh analysis on demand — useful after a major change to your brand profile or after a content push.
## Weekly Insights (Recommended Moves)
Weekly Insights are Beat's highest-priority actions for the week. Each card shows:
* The specific action to take
* Why Beat is recommending it (the strategic rationale)
* A direct link to the relevant page in UPBEAT OS
Examples of Recommended Moves:
* "Publish an article targeting the 'content marketing for founders' keyword cluster — you have a significant traffic opportunity here"
* "Your email list hasn't been contacted in 18 days — send a newsletter this week to keep engagement warm"
* "Your LinkedIn activity has dropped below your cadence target — schedule 3 posts for this week"
Click the link on any Recommended Move card to jump directly to the relevant page and take action.
## Stop / Start / Continue
Beat organizes your content and marketing activity into three buckets:
* **Stop** — Things you're doing that data suggests aren't working (low-performing formats, topics with no traction, channels with poor ROI)
* **Start** — New actions Beat recommends based on your strategy and audience
* **Continue** — What's working well and should be maintained or scaled
Use this section as a quarterly reset as much as a weekly one. If the same thing keeps showing up in "Stop," it's time to act on it.
## Agent Findings
The Agent Findings grid surfaces deeper signals each Beat agent has noticed across your data:
* **Brand findings** — Drift, off-voice content, gaps in positioning
* **SEO findings** — Keyword opportunities, ranking shifts, cluster depth
* **Content findings** — Pillar coverage, format mix, publishing cadence
* **Performance findings** — Traffic patterns, top-performing pages, CTR opportunities
Each finding includes context, why it matters, and a link to act on it.
## Flywheel Health
The Flywheel Health panel is a visual of where you are in the content marketing growth loop:
**Content → Discovery → Audience → Leads → Sales → Authority → Content**
Beat shows which stage of the flywheel is strongest and where there's friction. If your content output is high but your Discovery (traffic) is low, Beat flags that as the bottleneck. If Discovery is solid but Leads are low, Beat focuses recommendations on conversion content.
## How Brand Beat feeds the strategy
The specificity of your strategy recommendations is directly tied to how complete your Brand Beat is. A thin Brand Beat produces generic recommendations. A well-developed Brand Beat — with strong pillars, a specific ICP, clear goals, and training samples — produces recommendations that are genuinely actionable for your situation.
If your Recommended Moves feel too generic, go to Brand Beat and strengthen the thin sections. The completion score on the Overview tab shows exactly where the gaps are.
